But so long as it sinks, chances are they will eat it. But if they do not seem interested, remove the food, as it'll just spoil the water. In regards to variety and species, you don't have much choice if your from the UK. The only legal species of crayfish in England is the Austraian Red Claw Crayfish (cherax quadricarinatus). It is also sometimes known as a yabby or a blue lobster. So please excuse my constant changes in name for it. General: I find lobsters to be very characterful pets, that have their own distinct personalities. I have also found them to be surprisingly active, especially when they are young, (I thought they would just hide under rocks constantly).
