... Lhasa Apso is a Tibetan dog, which was original bred for Buddhist Monastries to alert the Monks of intruders and to sit on their feet to keep them warm. Lhasa is the capital of Tibet, Apso means bearded, ergo Lhasa Apso means bearded Tibetan dog. It is one of the closest breeds to the ancestral wolf and as it has been around since 800BC, one of the oldest recognised breeds. They feature on the Tibetan Flag and are said to be lucky. Appearance Male and Females are different in size and weight. My Mam has two, a little boy and a little girl, and you can visably see the differences in size. The male is about 2-3 kg heavier than the female, and a little bit taller. Rusty...

... dog with a big personality! They are meant to bring good luck and are said to be reincarnated Budhist monks. This is not a pet for the faint hearted otherwise he will end up being the boss. They can live for 15 years or longer and are usually a very strong and healthy breed. They are usually strong willed, fearless little animals that have an unbelievable amount of energy and are always up to mischief. I personally have a Lhasa Apso and a Rhodesian Ridgeback, the little dog is definately in charge. They were originally bred as sentinel dogs in Tibetan monasteries and would sound the alert by barking if anyone approached. They are consequently quite a vocal dog, they wi...

As a youngster we had our first dog during my early years at school. It was a beautiful mongrel named Prince . Unfortunately for us my mum and dad worked full time and struggled to juggle things around to make sure that our loyal friend had someone at home with him most of the day. There was not problem with us loving him it was just we finding it difficult to give him the attention he deserved. At around the same time this happened an elderly friend of ours lost his lifetime friend ...
