Goldfish are one of the easiest pets to care for. The need hardly any attention and require fed only once a day. Tanks
Goldfish can thrive in just about any tank. They are coldwater fish and therefore there should be no heaters in the water. Filters are not essential for goldfish but help to cut down the amount of times you need to clean out the tank. Tanks should be cleaned out about once a week. Once I went on holiday and my neighbour was left to take care of my fish. I was away for two weeks and when I got back my neighbour had fed my goldfish, following my guidlines exactly, but hadn't cleaned them out. I had three fish in a rather small tank and so it was absouloutly filthy. I would normally clean the tank every 5 or 6 days and so I scrubbed it thouroughly just to make sure it was clean. Of course, you shouldn't use soap to clean fish tanks and so I would boil water and clean the tank in it using a special brush which I used only to clean my tank. My three goldfish died a long time ago and I had each of them for about four years.

Tunnels
Fish just love going under tunnels and investigating caves and caverns. I loved watching my fish swim through the tunnels in their tank. I would always have to take it out when I was finished looking at the fish because I had a big fish who liked to go through the tunnel but he was so big he would get stuck.

Filters and Heaters
Tropical fish need a little more attention and require a heater to keep the temperature up. Coldwater fish, on the other hand, do not need a heater. Goldfish are coldwater fish and so do not need a heater. You can have filters in with goldfish.

Food
There are special brands of fish food for goldfish. I would buy my fishfood from my local pet store for about £0.87 for a medium sized tub.
