I have 3 gold fish of the fantail variety. I chose to set up a fish tank after doing a bit of research. I like them based upon appearance. when I was deciding on a tank I was looking into information to find out what would be ideal for me. I looked at the biOrb range but decided the tank was too small and was an unpractical shape for fish to swim in although the tank was stylish. Im going to include some information about looking after goldfish, information which helped me to look after my goldfish which i hope will help others.

Goldfish are reatively easy to look after. The areas you need to keep an eye on is keeping the tank clean, adding chemicals to remove chlorine so the waters safe also water temperature is important goldfish do not like sudden shifts in temperature.

Goldfish are coldwater fish and should live in unheated aquariums. They do not have a stomach only an intestinal tract which limits their ability to digest large quantities of food. Because the food passes quickly through the goldfish they produce large amounts of waste which poisons the water they live in. The chemicals that goldfish release into the water will need to be broken down in stages by bacteria in the aquarium or pond. When new goldfish tanks are set up, it can take a while for these bacteria to develop and until they do, the goldfish can become ill or even die. Goldfish are the pigs of the aquarium world - they are very messy and will eat almost anything they can get hold of. Maintaining the water quality of a goldfish tank is the most important thing for a fish keeper to do. fish should be fed once a day of an amount which they can consume with a couple of minutes
