Very relaxing and easy care. I am going by owning a fish throughout my childhood and also for the last 9 and a half years. I moved into my first flat and my cousin decided she did not want the goldfish she won at the fair. Bob is now 9 and a half years old has has always lived in an unfiltered tank and he is fine. I never treat the water and ...  Read the complete review

What a lovely pet a goldfish can make! We have had quite a few since my eldest son was born and he's quite worn off the goldfish idea but his 6 year old brother loves them! When we had our first one I had a round plastic fish bowl, but I suddenly remembered that my brother had been given a mini glass tank for his birthday one year ...  Read the complete review

About six months ago now, my mum won a tenner on the thunderball, and for some reason she decided the perfect thing to spend her money on would be a goldfish for my daughter. Now, I wouldn't have minded if she wanted to keep it at her house, but oh no - she purchased a tank, gravel, weed, food, and fish and dragged it all round to my house. This ...  Read the complete review

I've pretty much had a goldfish all my life. Right from when I was a young children, begging my mum for a puppy, I got a goldfish for Christmas. When that died a couple of years later, my mum replaced it as another way to deter my eagerness for a dog. Every goldfish has been replaced since my first one, and now that I've moved out and ...  Read the complete review

Probably one of the most boring and cheap pets you can get but on the plus side if you look after them probably they seem to be imortal especially if you just have the one and put water plants in with the fish. When I was four years of age I desperately wanted a a pet of any description so that christmas myparents bought me a fish tank ...  Read the complete review

People have a lot of miss conceptions about fish as pets, and fish in general. Maybe this is because they are not classed as an animal (the RSPCA does not have any responsibility over them), maybe it's because we can't touch them. Whatever the reason fish still do however, make very entertaining pets. The main problem people have is ...  Read the complete review

The only real reason I have goldfish is that they belonged to someone else I knew and I offered to take them when they could no longer be looked after. I had always wanted pet fish, as I think they are very cute and pretty, as well as being relaxing to look at. These things may be so, but looking after goldfish is disproportionately ...  Read the complete review

I have 3 gold fish of the fantail variety. I chose to set up a fish tank after doing a bit of research. I like them based upon appearance. when I was deciding on a tank I was looking into information to find out what would be ideal for me. I looked at the biOrb range but decided the tank was too small and was an unpractical shape for fish to swim ...  Read the complete review

We used to have the gold fish in a bowl next to the TV, this lead to the cat sitting in front of the tv (blocking our view) and watching the fish go round and round. The cat (fortunately) was rubbish at catching them, but we moved them to the pond outside. The cat still spend most of her day watching them but they now have much more room to escape ...  Read the complete review

Firstly, apologies to any goldfish lovers out there, but I find them the most irritating and pointless pet ever. This is my experience of them. During the summer last year I took the kids to a local fate, which of course had the obligatory hook-a-duck stand. Both the kids won one of the lesser prizes (surprise, surprise), and both ...  Read the complete review

Goldfish need time and care, it is cruel to keep a goldfish in a bowl, they like to swim. You would never buy a box, twice the size of your dog and expect him to live in it. Most fish in this country still come from abroad mainly singapore. They are housed in aquariums and holding tanks on river banks, the water is pumped from the ...  Read the complete review

Goldfish as a pet I would recommend a goldfish to anyone who would like to own a pet but don't have time to look after one as they don't need much attention. They are suitable for anyone who has children who want a pet but don't have time or money to look after them because they are cheap to look after as you only have goldfish food ...  Read the complete review

Gold fish are easy pets to keep, dont take up too much room in your house (depending on the size of your fish bowl), dont have to be walked or given exersized and are really easy to feed (just pop a few fish flakes into their tank). Gold fish however dont show any affection to their owners and you dont get that affection that other pets ...  Read the complete review

The Goldfish is the classic first pet for people of all ages, though actually their care is not as straight forward as many people think, and to allow them to live to their potential 30+ years, one must invest a fair amount of time, effort and money. God bless Phillip and Fern (named after the King and Queen of morning tv). It was just under a year ago since I got my wonderful goldfish and, until 3 days ago, our relationship blossomed.
