Advantages: Very loving, Show you their ill, not skittish

Disadvantages: Can be smelly, Need more care than smaller rodents

A guineapig, yes a great pet if you have a lot of time to give them care and affection, However not so great if they havent been handled from an early age.

If you have your mind set on buying guineapigs then DO NOT buy from a pet shop as these wont have been held and therefore tamed. Instead, buy from a private owner if possible who's likely to have held the guineapigs from an early age.

Never keep a gunieapig alone as they are extremely sociable animals who need to have friends living with them, or they could die from loneliness.

Gunieapigs can be quite smelly, hence why they need properly cleaning out twice or three times a week. They will usually live outside but in case of bad, cold weather, you need to be willing to give them a place inside, or your guineapigs could contract pneumonia.

Guineapigs do not usually bite and they show you when they are unwell, through the squeaks and chitters. You will get to know your guineapig as an individual after a few weeks so you will be able to notice when they're unhappy.

Caring for Guineapigs is incredibly rewarding as they are very loving. However, without the proper care, guineapigs can go down hill rather quickly in terms of illness.
