Advantages: Cute and cuddley, Funny, Easy to look after and great for kids

Disadvantages: None!

Milton and Eddie have lived with me for just over a year. Milton is a sandy coloured smooth haired boy weighing about 1200gms, and Eddie is a black-and-tan rosette guinea weighing in at roughly 1200gm.

They are both male and are completely unrelated, but have lived together since they were very young and apart from the odd off-day they have always been very good friends.

They also live with a very large female lop-eared rabbit called Blossom who they absolutely adore (especially Milton - he thinks she's his girlfriend) - she thinks she's their mother and does a very good job of keeping them clean!

Guinea pigs are brilliant pets - they are very entertaining, they love eating, and it's great giving them new things to try. If kept indoors for any length of time, they will quickly recognise noises like the fridge opening, carrier bags rustling etc, and will immediately squeek like mad until you give them something to nibble on!

I live in a ground floor flat, but exercise all three outside on the grass as much as possible (weather permitting). They sleep in a very large, purpose-built hutch outdoors, but at the moment because of recent fireworks and now the bad weather they are indoors.

Having kept both rabbits and guinea-pigs I would say that guinea-pigs are by far the better pet. They are much easier to look after, and cheap to keep. Had I not got the rabbit I could have used a much smaller hutch for starters - the one we built ourselves cost around £70 and several days to build. The rabbit also had to be neutered at a cost of £50 - she was worrying the guinea-pigs terribly every time she came into season - trying to tuck them under herself for what purpose I don't know, but it was very distressing to them. She also gets bored very easily, and takes out her frustration by removing the newspaper that lines the hutch and tearing it up making a great mess, and leaving the hutch damp, cold and smelly. I b
ought a lead, and take her out for walks as well as exercising her in the run, as she has been known to try and dig out of the run making a real mess of the garden - although this has not happened so much now that she has been neutered. Her pee really smells bad too, and I have to clean them all out a lot more frequently since having the rabbit.

If you have small children, definitely go for pigs rather than rabbits, and remember get two, to keep each other company.

I had a guinea pig called "Cavity" - because he'd shriek when you rustled a packet or opened the fridge too. He was better than the rabbit I had. Rabbits can also get stressed from being handled so they're not really suitable for small kids at all.

We have guinea pigs, love the little fatties. My daughters oldest one died a couple of weeks ago tho, she was 8 years old, pretty good for a pig!. Sad day.

This was more informative than your opinion on Bull Terriers so you're getting there? Don't write too many quick opinions though, it's generally better to spend more time on one really good one than several not so good quick ones. You'll get more reads that way and earn more money. If you try to imagine the sort of questions somebody would ask about the product/service you're describing and answer those questions then you're well on your way to a Very Useful opinion. ~Sharon
