Guinea pigs are a very sociable animal and hate be alone, so if you decide to go down the guinea pig route then make sure you get at least two. I've had two guinea pigs in my time, although one after the other. This was fine though as they each lived with my rabbit and they kept each other company. I don't know if this is 'acceptable' to do ... Read the complete review

Many people may take an instant dislike to guinea pigs because they are rodents, however...they are not the equivalent to rats and I think that they make a really loving family pet. They are originally from South America and there are many different breeds of guinea pig. I have two female short haired guinea pigs, called scrap and ... Read the complete review

Guinea Pigs (Cavia porcellus if you want to be posh about it) is a kind of rodent originating from South America, especially Ecaudor, Peru, and Bolivia. Now, I say rodent, but don't go imagining a rat or a mouse - they're much sweeter and fluffier . They don't look a lot like pigs either really, and their only similarity with pigs is that males ... Guinea pigs are rodents, forming part of a group known as caviomorphs, the only difference is they have no tail. They originate from the Andean region of South America, and were probably first domesticated by the Incas over 750 years ago. The wild ancestors of the Guinea pig were agouti(wild rabbit colour) coloured, which provided them with a good ... Read the complete review

The guinea pig is a popular family pet but how much do you know about them and have you ever owned one? They are also known as cavies and originate from the Andes, although many people assume they come from New Guinea. They aren't related to pigs either - they're actually classed as a species of rodent. One of the reasons the name ... Read the complete review

Originally when my husband and I wanted pets we looked at Chinchilla's, but after seeing one bouncing off of walls on Youtube and considering our small flat, we decided against that one! Two of our friends had guinea pigs, and my husband suggested we have a look. I initially though pigs would be boring and not do much - I was SO wrong!! ... Read the complete review

The Guinea PIg or Cavies as they are sometimes know, are one of the best pets to have especially if you have younger children. They are very docile animals although they can be very timid and get frightened easily. They are very loving animals and tend not bite, unless of course you have been handling something they find tasty, easy handle as ... Read the complete review

Guinea Pigs (Often confused with hamsters, note these are the size of a very small rabbit rather than a fat mouse) are an increasingly popular pet, that is low maintenance and has quite simple husbandary requirements. Unfortunately, my pet Guinea Pig byron was killed by what I believe to have been a Mustedllid of some sort (weasel, stoat, mink or ... Read the complete review

I have decided to write a review about guinea pigs, having two of my own, I can honestly say that they are the most friendly and unusual pets you can buy. Staple children's pets everywhere, the guinea pig, less commonly known as the cavy, are members of the rodent family, and are quite closely related to chinchillas. Unusually for mammals, their young are born after a long gestation already fully furred, able to see and move. I would describe what they look like but I'm sure you've seen one of these ... Guinea Pigs made fantastic pets for adults and children alike, although they need alot more care than most people think. *Housing* Firstly Guinea Pigs need a large enclosure- either indoors or outside.
