I had my fish tank about 6 or 7 months now. When I first had it i went mad, buying any fish I could, or liked the look of. At first I got some tetras and silver sharks, the next week, it was pay day, time for some more fish. I went in and there was about 5 tanks full of these colourful little fishy's. I was amazed at the different colours these fish came in. They were flourescent. It took me about 20 minutes of just staring at them to make my choice of what colour to have. The guy at the shop told me it was advisable to have only one male and as many females as I like, becuase of the fighting between males. When I first bought my Fish tank I went mad buying allsorts of fish including Guppies. Guppies are scientifically known as the Poecilia reticulata and have been since 1963 when two ichthyologists, Rosen and Bailey, published a major revision of livebearing fishes. Prior to that, they were known by allsorts of names, the most well known of them being Lebistes reticulatus.
