Rabbits Well it is nearly Easter. And as children we all knew the Easter rabbit brought our chocolate eggs.
The Easter bunny originated from pre Christian times it has a place in fertility lore as both hare’s and rabbits bred profusely. The Easter bunny seems to have originated in Germany first mentioned in 1500s. The first edible bunny was a pastry and sugar bunny from Germany in the 1800s.

As a child I had pet rabbits I used to love and care for my rabbits at one stage we had one who lived happily with a guinea pig as a cage mate. I used to pet and play with my rabbit a lot she was very tame would let me pick her up. And if I let her out of her cage she would come running back to me when I called .I frequently took her for walks around the village in my old dolls pram. Rabbits get very tame if you give them a lot of attention.

At one stage we had 2 rabbits and they had babies this was great fun to watch them growing. We gave all except one baby away. I think it was this one that I used to take for walks in my dolls pram when the older rabbits died I cannot remember clearly it was 40 years or more ago.

We had a rabbit as a pet when my daughter was young, it was a female we borrowed a friends boy rabbit for a while so we could have babies, I am a great believer in pets and pets having babies. For children to learn a little of sex education and to learn how to care for small things and to watch the developing animals.

There are many pet rabbit breeds. Dwarf rabbits; lop eared rabbits, giant rabbits, angora rabbits, and so many different varieties.

Rabbits are crepuscular sleeping in the day and at night being active early morning and late afternoon/evening time

A bunny joke to finish with.

I used to have a rabbit when I was a child but tend to think these days that it is cruel to keep them in a hutch.

I've know nice bunnies and EVIL nasty bunnies...they do have big teeth..lol...after almost two years of studying 'animal care' at college..you discover all that looks cute and fluffy is not always what it seems !. But it's like anything else..it's how you treat them mostly. Rabbits... hmm reminds me got 'Watership Down' on vid somewhere 's a good bunny film if a bit brutal !.. :o)

I'm sure my children would love a rabbit but I know who would end up caring for it! Love the jokes!! Ann
