Reviews on "Pet / Animal"

DocDan3 Reptiles & Amphibians in general: ... and Amphibians are excellent animals as they clearly have evolved from the dinosaurs and they bare a lot of resemblance, even today. You can admire them at the zoo or even keep them as pets as they are relatively easy to look after but some cost more than others. Amphibians don t resemble dinosaurs much, but they are still fantastic creatures and make really unusual pets. I think tortoises are perhaps the b...

CokaCola New Caledonian Crested Gecko
... Geckos, or "Cresties" as they are often affectionately known, are an extremely popular pet lizard native to the islands of New Caledonia, a "Sui Generis Collectivity" of France. The species was thought to be extinct until it was rediscovered in 1994 and widely spread through the collections of private breeders. It is a classic example of how the captive reptile hobby has had a positive impact environmentally and from a conservationists point of view, because despite it s previously assumed extinction, there are now millions and millions of animals in a back up resevoir across Europe, America and the World. One of the reasons Crested Geckos are...

DocDan3 Tortoise
... have had a Tortoise for around 7 years now and he s turned out to be a great pet with much character. You can get many different tortoises from all over the world but I have a Hermans tortoise, which is from a desert habitat. I bought him when he was young and very small for over £100 as they aren t cheap. You need licensing too and mine was micro-chipped as well. We used to think he had an obsession with white socks as he always bit my foot, but it turned out it s because I only ever wore white socks. I would sit by the desk and when he s out on the floor, he would get close to me to sniff them, then when I accidentally hit him with my feet, he uses it as an excuse to...

DocDan3 Lizards
... it comes to buying a pet, you may look for something that is easy to look after, has a personality and is enjoyable to keep and playful. I would say that most lizards have these attributes and they make excellent pets. Not all of them cost a lot to look after, but some can be quite pricey when they eat insects and other live food or pink mice. I will start with perhaps my most favourite - the bearded dragon. This is a very common lizard found in pet shops around the UK. They are grey with beige and light brown colourings. They look like real dinosaurs with their spiky, rough skin but they are softer to touch than they seem. Most of the spikes are actually quite soft...
