I have owned rough collies for four years now. I had always been interested in the breed, reading about their peaceful, loving and relaxed temparament. I got my first rough collie, Ruby, four and a bit years ago from a professional breeder. Then, two years later I got my second rough collie from the same breeder, we named her Amber. These beautiful dogs are an active sheepdog, falling into the pastoral category, made famous by the TV star Lassie. They are great as pets for loving company, gentle but very active too and great with children of any age. I have owned Rough Collies for many years now, and have three at the moment. Delilah is an old lady now at eleven; Jasmine is almost two and Orlagh (Jasmine’s daughter) is a six month old pup. They are first and foremost family pets, although I have shown Jasmine and Delilah at local dog shows, and also used to compete in agility with Delilah when she was younger. A Brief History of the Breed Rough Collies originated in Scotland, where they were used for herding and general farm work.
