The Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) is a wonderfully intelligent, gentle and playful little dog. A quick and joyful companion for anybody. One of the best things about owning a dog is the welcome they give you on entering the house. With a Sheltie, it is usually a noisy and ecstatic welcome full of little paws and bundles of fur and excited yips and yelps. Nothing is better for the ego than a welcome home from a loyal Sheltie. These dogs have great temperaments and are loyal and affectionate with their families. They are good with children but can be a little shy and timid with strangers. As with any dog they must receive a good amount of exercise but will adapt well to smaller apartments. These little dogs are full of ... Read the complete review

The Shetland Sheepdog or Sheltie as it is known, is a working breed with so many qualities that for me it is the ideal breed. A long haired dog that is well able to do a days work yet only stands 14 inches high. Intelligent and sensitive to the owners mood it is a loyal companion. We have two bitches, a blue merle and a tri colour aged 4 and 2. Before these we had a tri, a shaded sable, and a merle, all dogs. Tried breed showing with little result so turned to obedience which we find far more interesting and by using 'clicker training' we have had some success. The Sheltis is excellent at obedience and loves every minute. I will ... Read the complete review
