Advantages: reduces lens flair

Disadvantages: hopeless clip so falls off

This lens hood fits the 77mm diameter end of the 70-200 f2.8 VR lens.

Nikon claim that the little metal clip is very good and clips securely to the lens, but I, along with quite a few other people have found that this clip is hopeless! And my evidence, well, the original I got with the lens is now at the bottom of a cliff after falling off whilst photographing puffins! They were not amused at having to dodge it when it came flying through their colony either!

When it stays on the lens it is good at protecting the end of the lens, and helping to reduce lens flair. Obviously there is a compromise because it is used on a zoom lens, at 200mm it could be a bit longer, but that would be problematic at 70mm.

Fortunately they are easy to get hold of so I have ordered another as I can't be without it. If they didn't fall off though you wouldn't need to buy a replacement now would you!
