Introduction
##########

This lens hood came with my lens. As my lens is a telephoto unlike other lenses when you change the focal length (zoom) the actual lens does not extend - that's why my lens came with this "sunflower" design.

The rounded lens hoods come with lenses which extend when the focal length is changed; in doing this the barrel turns - this turns the hood too. If I was to put a sunflower hood on one of those then the "petals" would keep turning and would not stay in place.

Why Use This?
############

Not everyone likes to use hoods. But they do have a purpose. They are used to block light hitting the lens from the side and flushing your photos; causing a ghosting effect, or in major circumstances can wash out your photo completely.

The HN-CP2 is a good piece of kit - it matches my lens and fits on just by resting it on the end of the lens and twisting it into place. The removal of it is the same way. I often use this hood along with filters. Although you will have to remove the hood when trying to use a ring flash as a fill-in.

Conclusion
#########

It does exactly what you want it to - block unwanted light from the sides.

Summary: Works well for the proposed purpose.
