As anyone who wears glasses can testify to the biggest frustration with wearing glasses is how quickly and easily your glasses get dirty making it difficult to see out of them clearly (which is what they are to help with) or meaning you need to continually be cleaning your glasses which is just a hassle. Thankfully Opti Clear lens wipes help you to keep your glasses clean and clear at all times but why should you have these at all times?
- The lens wipes are each individually packaged which keeps the wipes moist and fresh so that when you need to use one then they are ready for use and give the best results
- Opti Clear lens wipes cut through dirt and build up on the lenses with ease and leave the lenses smear free (something that many wipes on the market don't do)
- A box of 26 wipes normally costs around about £1 - £1.50 and is available in stores like Superdrug and Boots. This price is excellent as a single lens wipe will be able to do both glasses lenses (again unlike some of the other lens wipes out there)
- Opti Clear lens wipes don't leave any lingering smell like some sprays can so after you have cleaned your glasses then you can wear them straight away without worrying
- These wipes are quick drying so that you can immediately wear your glasses after cleaning without needing to use a wipe to clean and then a wipe to dry
- Each wipe is a good size which enables you to clean your glasses with ease
- Compact packaging allows you to have one of these on you at all times so that you can keep your glasses clean without needing to carry around one of the bottles of cleaning spray and wipes that many people still use
Overall for me the Opti Clear lens wipes are an excellent thing to have on you at all times. They are compact wipes meaning that they are very handy things to have. Great cleaning power in each and every wipe thanks to them being individually packaged allows for you to keep your glasses clean at all times which in turn helps you to feel less tired as you are not straining to look through smears and dirt which build up on your lenses. All of this with value for money too makes this something which is well worth having.
Opticlear lens wipes are moist wipes that come individually wrapped designed for cleaning glasses with either glass or plastic lenses, cameras, binoculars, helmet visors, car mirrors or computer and TV screens. In other words anything with either a lens or a screen! Opticlear claim that these wipes will clean your item by dissolving grease and grime to leave a perfect, smear free finish.
I first bought these when I wore glasses to clean them, however as I no longer wear glasses I now continue to use them but on my tv and computer screen and touch screen phone.
The wipes come in a box containing 26 wipes; each of these are individually wrapped so that you know you're using a completely clean wipe each time. The packaging the wipes come in are also very small, making them easily portable as they'll fit into either a bag or pocket without taking up much room at all.
On one side of the wrapping there is a slight indent which marks where you should tear the packet open. On opening the packet the wipe is folded over several times and smells quite strongly of alcohol.
To use these you simply unfold and wipe across the surface you want to clean. For stubborn, stuck on dirt you do occasionally need to scrub at the mark but the wipes are strong and fairly thick so can easily stand up to this kind of use. The wipes are also relatively large so since I now use these to clean my TV and computer screen one wipe will do both. I use one side to clean one screen then turn it over and use the other side to clean the other screen.
After cleaning the screens are always shining and bright, the wipes are tough enough to remove even the most stubborn marks with a little bit of scrubbing and the screen dries within seconds leaving no marks or smears at all. There's also no transfer of scent so although the wipes themselves smell quite strongly as soon as the wipes are thrown away this is no longer noticeable.
The only real problem with these is availability! Several years ago a box of 26 used to be available in many different places, I bought mine from ASDA for less then £1. Now though, the only place I can find these is: http://www.britishsupermarketworldwide.com/acatalog/info_33585.html where a pack of 26 costs £1.89. I would be more then happy to pay this as the wipes work perfectly removing fingerprints, dirt and general dust and seeming to keep this muck away for at least a couple of days. However, when buying from this site the delivery is charged per 30kg case even if you're not buying that much. Therefore the delivery charge is £7.99, this means it's only worth it if you plan on buying a lot from them.
Otherwise these are an excellent product and well worth picking up if you see them available anywhere.
It is only in the past year or so that I have had to start wearing glasses. When I originally got them from Boots I had two pairs and they came in their own cases and with their own cleaning cloths. One cloth was of a tiny size, so was useless in all honesty. The other cleaning cloth is used regularly although I don't carry it around with me. I found that the cleaning cloths were great to use, but they were slightly limited by their effectiveness. I found that they couldn't completely remove all dirt, and that when I had particularly greasy fingerprints or marks on them the cloth wouldn't work very well. This is the reason for the purchase of specialised lens cleaning cloths.
The Opticlear lens Wipes come in a pack of 26. They give a smear-free finish to your lens's and work on both plastic and glass lens types. The wipes are of a decent size, and they are for disposable use, so I know that I will be using a clean wipe each time. I can no longer find them available online where I have bought them in the past, but they did cost 99p. The wipes are moist, allowing me to safely remove the stubborn marks from my lenses and ensuring I can see through my glasses at all times. I do now use unbranded spectacle wipes from the supermarket, although I would definitely suggest you keep your eyes peeled for the Opticlear lens wipes as they are not just so easy to use, they do a terrific job at tackling all hard to remove marks that cleaning cloths simply will not manage.
The Opticlear lens wipes are a great product and very well priced at 99p for 26, unfortunately as I can no longer find them available to buy I would recommend you buy wipes specifically designed for lenses and spectacles and not use the more heavy duty screen wipes available widely.
In the past I used an special cloth or even my tee shirt to wipe my lenses and on the long run it always left tiny small scratches behing, barely visible that added up on the long run. Even the special spray did not helped much and it left smudge also.
There is nothing more annoying then you lenses get smudged with grease or dust, when you watch TV or you are in front of the PC with the lights closed in the room then I can see all the smudges on my glasses.
Now I just discovered OptiClear Wipes and I am very happy with this product, I have been buying it for over an year and I use it constantly. I would say once at every 2 days I use a wipe for my glasses. It also seems that dust does not settle that easy while using this product on the lenses and if my glasses get smudged right away I find more easier to remove the greasiness because I have been treating my glasses with OptiClear Wipes.
A box is full with 30 individually wrapped wipes that are easy to rip and use. The alcohol product that the wipe is moist with evaporates fast but one is enough for both of you glass lenses.
What worried me to begin with and still does is the fact that the tissue is a bit rough, I guess that this company could of used softer tissue with the alcohol solution but it seem that it does not adds scratches to my lenses at all and if it does I do not notice them
I carry this sealed wipes in my purse all the day, I keep some near my PC and in the bathroom so they are handy.
At the end after I finished using the wipe my glasses are smear free completely. The only problem might be that it can leave small drops behind if you do not wipe all they excess alcohol off completely.
If you're a fellow spectacle wearer, you'll know just how easily dust and dirt builds up on your lenses. While I find that a bit of dust doesn't severely impair my vision, it is a bit of a nuisance. So that's where Opticlear Lens Wipes come in very handy. Basically these are little moist wipes that will clear your glasses of dust and dirt.
You can buy a box of Opticlear in most supermarkets and chemists; I usually buy mine in Superdrug where they are 97p for a box of 26 wipes. The box is quite small and light, and easily fits in my bag. 'Opticlear' is printed across the front in bold blue and white lettering, along with a photograph of a pair of glasses, and they are always very noticeable on the chemist's shelf. There is quite a lot of information on the box, including what else the wipes can be used for; 'spectacles with glass or plastic lenses, cameras and binoculars, helmet visors, car mirrors, and computer and TV screens - they should not be used on contact lenses'. I almost always use them for my specs but have occasionally wiped my laptop screen with them and found them to be very effective.
Inside the box, all the wipes are individually wrapped in little white sachets (which again have the brand name, what the wipes can be used for, and directions for use, printed on them). The sachets are all perforated in pairs and are very easy to tear apart from each other.
The sachets each have a little tear in them (much like a sachet of ketchup) so they are very easy to open, and the wipe itself is folded up neatly inside. When you're ready to clean your glasses, the directions state that you should blow away any dust on the lens, then use the wipe to clean. The box also states that there is no need to dry your specs after wiping them; I usually find that there are a few drops of watery residue left behind but these do dry up within a few seconds. The wipe and sachet can just be thrown in the bin afterwards, and the cardboard box can of course be recycled.
I think these wipes are great value for money; I find that 26 wipes last me for quite a long time, and they really do a great job. I can see the difference before and after using them, and they always leave my glasses completely free of marks. I wouldn't recommend them if your glasses have any grimy marks on them; for example I spilled some vodka and pure orange juice on mine (long story) and didn't notice until the next morning when it had all become a bit sticky. The wipes weren't able to remove this kind of stain, and I had resort to hot soapy water.
The only negative point I would mention is the smell of the wipes; there are no ingredients on the box so I can't say for sure what the smell is (I assume it's some sort of alcohol) but it's very strong, and often people around me in my office will comment on it, so it is quite apparent.
Apart from effectively cleaning your glasses, the sachets are so handy and I always keep a few at work, at home, and in my bag. They do a much better job at cleaning lenses than the cloth wipes provided in most glasses cases, plus I find carrying my case around a bit of an irritation since it's quite bulky, whereas the wipes take up virtually no space. I would recommend Opticlear Lens Wipes to all bespectacled folk!
