Aloe vera plants are brilliant, easy to care for and have endless uses.

Aloe vera plats as as pictured above but as they get older do grow a stem in the middle and flower. They can grow to about 100 cm tall but dont wory you will be cutting lots off it.
They need to have gravel in the bottom of the pot for drainage, and a soil/ sand mix of 50/50 to be kept best.

You cant keep your aloe vera plant outside as it likes to be warm and you only need to water it when the soil drys up, about once a month for the 2 in my kitchen.

We first discovered the aloe vera pant wholst on holiday, my dad and hubby had burnt that badly in the sun i was buying burns treatments from the chemist when the cleaner turned up with an aloe vera plant for them, she told us to cut the leaves off, slice them open and rub the clear jelly from inside onto the burns. It worked wanders and in less than a week it had healed completley with no scars.

My dad uses this on his coldsores also recomended by the cleaner as the sun always breaks his lips out and it works better than any coldsore cream we have ever tried.

Aloe vera is found in a lot of medicins, creams, toiletries and cosmetics.

It is sensative enough to be able to be used around the eyes and even drunk for stomach problems such as ulcers or calitus.

We use lots of it in our house, i put it on every cut or burn as it kills infection, speeds up healing and reduces scaring. I also use it in my bath water to stop my eczema and it works wanders.

A medium sized plant about 40cm tall will only cost you £2 from B&Q and for all the things it is useful for you cant beat that.

Summary: a brilliant plant, every house should have one
