I used to get my mam to dip bananas in chocolate and sprinkles when I was younger, this being her attempt to get me to eat more fruit. Though I would always lick away the chocolate and crunch at the sprinkles, leaving a mushed banana clinging onto a lollipop stick. Now though I adore bananas and cannot get enough of them!

Brand: Tesco value
Packaging: Plastic bag
Appearance: yellow skin, occasionaly with brown patches
Taste: banana, milk
Texture: sometimes soft sometimes firm
Price: £1 for 6
Availability: Tesco stores

Now you knw the bascs, lets look a little further. The Tesco value range is known for its cheap prices and usually good quality products, so I was looking forward to trying these! However its basic packaging- a clear little bag- was hardly an eye catcher. The benefit of this though was that you can see right into the bananas. Since first purchasing, Ihave found that the bananas do not come in a bag now, or at least not at my local, but they still might elsewhere.

The banana skins have quite a deep yellow skin usually, and the banana inside is quite pale - a surprising contrast. Now I say usually, because it does of course depend on how close to the sell by date you choose to buy your fruit! They give a faint fruity scent but nothing powerful.

To eat the bananas can be soft sometimes, a delightful barely-mushy sensation. However they can be a little more firm sometimes, so there is no need to put these in the fridge if you do prefer them this way! I personally like them a little softer and sliced on a plate, but either way is fine with me. Their flavour is distinctly banana, there's no mistaking them for a mushy watermelon, but it is hardly a taste to over excite you. it is quite mild, which would be ideal for anybody who is not overly keen on strong bananas.

For £1 you are getting six bananas (unless somebody has nabbed one!). You'll find that any banana that costs less that 20p is one to be wary of, but I find that these are actually quite delicious and edible indeed. At that price, you cannot go wrong!

If you live near a Tesco store then these are definitely worth a try. If you like bananas then great, but they are so good they are perfect for encouraging others to eat them too! Whatever your reason, give them a try!

I just cannot understand why Tesco puts bananas or any other fruit into plastic bags. Is it to make us buy more than we would normally, I wonder.
