Advantages: Bright, Large height range
Disadvantages: Require sunny position
The warm days have arrived and I'm itching to get out in the garden. Having last year bought a few Dahlia tubers and being amazed at the results I have raised a dwarf variety form seed which are almost ready to go out. Dahlias range from 12" to 3 foot tall, however I love the dwarf varieties for their lively and versatile nature; they look great n any terracotta container. They are remarkably easy to germinate and not very expensive, I grew mine on a small windowsill and now have a ery healthy group of about 50 plants which have required very little care. If you want hot summer colour choose Dahlias!

- 26/05/01 Strangely enough I was thinking only today of having a try with some dahlias. Didn't realise they were easy to propogate. Ann |

- 26/05/01 Don't be afraid to put in loads of detail - we all like a good read. Extra stuff could be which kind of dwarf variety, when is the best time to plant out etc. My wife knows all this stuff but I'm a dead loss when it comes to the estate management side.
Keep going, there are signs of promise there. |
