When I was younger, I would never touch fruit. The only vegetable I would attempt was the carrot, so I imagine my system must have been starved of nutrition! Though now I cannot get enough fruit and I fell in love with blueberries a few years back. One brand I like is the Tesco option.
Brand: Tesco
Packaging: clear plastic tub
Appearance: large, deep blue
Taste: blueberries, tangy
Texture: juicy, shiny skin
Price: £3
Availability: Tesco stores
Okay so now you know the basics lets look deeper. The first thing I like about these is the tub. I have seen some blueberries come in plastic bags, liable to get squished and ruined. But this plastic tub, complete with air holes, keeps them safe and secure. And since it is clear you can see it, which is also promising. The blueberries themselves look quite large and generally look fresh, with the exception of one or two.
To taste the blueberries are a delight. Theyre not too tangy but at the same time have a little kick in them. They are unbelievably juicy too, which is wonderful, and the skin is perfect. It feels shiny but is not the sort that sticks to your teeth - what more could you ask for?
Naturally these are quite healthy. They're fruit, it goes without saying! They are packed with goodness and make wonderful snacks. Next time you try to dive for the chocolate bar, head into the fridge instead and pick up some blueberries! At three pound a box it does not seem like they are worth it, but a handful will give you a portion of fruit, so you're looking at nomore than 50p a portion! Comparing that snack to your average chocolate bar or bag of crisps, there's no real price difference!
These are deliciously fruity fresh and worth a try. They are perfect for first time blueberry eaters (they are what I started off with) and will have you hooked!
