Advantages: butterflis love it, bees love it, makes me happy
Disadvantages: seeds everywhere
Borage /Borago/Boraginacea I pulled a couple of weeds up in my herb garden today and founds lots and lots of little tiny Borage seedlings so I thought I would write a little about borage As you have guessed borage self seeds easily I first seeded borage about 10 years ago in my garden have not needed to reseed it since. Borage is an annual grows to a height between 1 and 3 feet 30cm ?1 m has hairy bristly foliage and very pretty blue star shaped five petal flowers. There is a species Alba that has white flowers. Borage likes sunny positions to grow in. The leaves are good added to salads the flowers are a pretty garnish Borage is supposed to lift the spirits (maybe we on dooyoo ought to be eating lots) The bees and butterflies in my garden like to visit my borage to feed on its nectar. And its so pretty any one want a borage plant I shall have to dig some up to put in pots to give away Maybe I can sell some at the gate. Next school fete will have lots of borage Thanks for reading will try and get back to you if dooyoo lets me ??Mary

- 06/01/03 Useful op. Unfortunately the black fly love it too. Could turn this to my advantage I suppose and maybe attract the pests from other plants. |
