I absolutely adore Sunday Roast dinners. It is a very rare thing that I will eat, but when I do I always savour every bite. I love to have vegetables with them: carrots, cauliflour, cabbage, sprouts and of course, broccolli. I dont mind what brand the broccoli is but since the Tesco store opened across the road I do tend to use their range.
Brand: Tesco
Packaging: clear
Appearance: green, medium
Taste: broccolli...
Texture: soft
Price: £1
Availability: Tesco stores
Now you know the simple facts we can dig a little deeper. The first thing about this that you will see is the packaging. The florettes come in a simple clear bag. Although this is quite dull, it does give you the benefit of being able to see the florettes themselves. They always look to be quite a fresh green colour, each one a medium size. They definitely look appealing!
I always steam my vegetables, as I feel it is the best way to get all the flavour for them. But occasionally I do use a pan and water! I find that there is enough broccoli florrettes to feed three people. I simply add it with my Dinner and pour on the gravy! The broccoli is quite soft if cooked to perfection and although its flavour is not exactly strong, the texture alone is to die for!
These are naturally going to be healthy for you since they are one of your five a day per portion. Have them on a Sunday Roast alongside three other vegetables and a glass of fruit juice and you're there! It really is that simple, and these are part of a healthy diet for you.
A bag costs around £1 which is wonderful. That's less than 35p a portion, which I find to be great value. Vegetables nowadays can be extortionate but Im happy with this price.
Next time you are near a tesco store these are definitely worth alook at. Although there is nothing majorly distinctive between these and, say, Asda's options, they are ideal for me, located only five minutes away! Next time you want broccoli, give these a try.
