I found some of these yesterday that I had not planted the roots are beginning to show and a few green shoots I shall plant them in a pot and hope for the best

You can buy autumn crocus or spring crocus the ones that I am writing about are the spring flowering.
Bulbs can be bought in garden centres or from mail order bulb merchants. Prices vary but for about £5 .00 you can buy 50 bulbs.
Crocus come in blue, white, purple, yellow Planted scattered across a lawn their cheery colours welcome spring.

Crocus can be planted in pots for the house they are excellent for planting and growing with children a cheap Christmas pressie a few crocus [planted in a yoghurt pot (remember to put drainage hole in the bottom of pot).
Crocuses are excellent in a spring border plant the bulbs after you have done your autumn tidy in the garden. Crocuses are wonderful as I said sown broadcast across a short grassy area.

To grow for indoors you need some potting compost and a pot to put the crocus in plant the bulbs under the soil and keep moist.
If sowing in a border the bulbs need to be planted in the soil about twice the depth of the bulb. About 3 inches apart. I think they look nice when planted in groups, and the same colours together.

I think they look great growing in a grassy area. Scatter them over the area you are going to plant, take a trowel and dig a hole about 3 or 4 in deep twice depth of crocus and plant the bulb. These bulbs can be left year after years and will bloom and delight you forever they should multiply over the years.

Did you know Saffron the food colouring / flavouring comes from crocus ? it comes from the saffron crocuss . saffron is the 3 staymens of the flower thyey are a deep yellow colour.Saffron is very expensive.
Happy new year spring will soon be here

We planted loads of crocus last year, they're so pretty when they all come out.

Happy New Year.
