In my view there is nothing to beat fresh veggies picked straight from the plant at the time you prepare your meal, then cooked and eaten within an hour or so. Isn't it wonderful this time of year to taste freshly podded peas, straight from the plant, or lightly steamed mange tout with a swirl of butter.
