Advantages: Boasts your immune system
Disadvantages: Can offend people with its smell
Ah the pungent smell of garlic, you either love it or hate it! But whichever of the sides you take, there is no denying its magical properties!
No it wont turn you into Cinderella or prince charming, but it will keep you from quite a few nasty symptoms that so easily beset us!
I will relate a few that are tried and proven, by myself. If your symptom is not on the list that I review, then scroll down to the bottom where I list all the ailments it helps against, if your ailment is there then a simple Google search on Garlic will get you plenty of websites for home remedy's. (If you have a ear infection, then read leanne8686 review, it has a very good remedy)
IMPORTANT FACT.
Unbeknown to many, the medicinal properties of Garlic, are not as powerful if administered orally. You will still get the vitamins and other minerals. But the antibiotic properties have poor bioavailability (are not very effective via oral consumption).
In the following two ailments that are listed below, garlic is not taken orally (although it can be taken in conjunction with the other method, to increase potency).
WORMS.
Uggh what a yucky thing to have, but as a humanitarian aid worker in third world countries its something that is very common, to see.
It was in Russia, that I first learned the locals garlic cure, for worms and other intestinal parasites. (Other warmer third world countries, used papaya/papaya seeds) You can take it orally but it is most effective as a suppository. You apply it just like you would a normal suppository, choose a smallish clove of garlic, and (sorry folks) gently slip it up the child's bum. (assuming it is your child that has worms) It dosnt hurt, and comes out whenever they next have a bowel movement. And trust me this does the trick!
COMMON COLD.
Eating garlic is a well know remedy for when you are feeling a little under the weather. Using it in your cooking will keep you feeling healthy, and besides being packed with vitamin C, garlic has antibacterial properties and is a broad spectrum antibiotic.
Eating garlic on a regular basis will decrease your chances of getting the flu.
However, if you do get the flu, there is a more powerful remedy.
Before you go to bed, take four to five cloves of garlic and crush them slightly (crushing them releases the antibiotic). Soak them in almond oil (you can use olive oil, but almond is more easily absorbed by the skin) for about one hour.
Then get a pair of socks (preferably ones that are headed for the bin, as this can ruin them) rub the oil soaked with garlic into the sole of your feet, then place the crushed garlic on your soles and put your socks on.
Sleep with your "garlic socks" on and the next morning you should be feeling better (besides from the garlic breath).
LIST OF AILMENTS THAT GARLIC HELPS AGAINST.
asthma
deafness/ear infections
bronchial
congestion
hardening of arteries
fevers
worms
liver and gall bladder trouble
catarrhal disorders
cough/flu
It is also good for the heart, stimulates appetite, and is an energy tonic.
I hope this was of some help, and that you learned something new about the common old garlic!
Summary: Another one of natures secrets to a healthier and happier lifestyle.
