Lamiums are spring or summer flowering perennials which provide elegant groundcover in shady areas of your garden. They are fully hardy and though they like moist shade a well-drained soil is required as they don't like excessive 'winter wet'. Their common name is 'Dead Nettle', but the garden plants are not quite as humble as the common weed. Whilst not being the showiest of plants, their value in the garden cannot be praised enough. They will carpet a shady area with oval, mid-green silver-tinged leaves with mauve-pink or yellow flowers in spring/summer.
