Lavender:
Lavender has been used in many ways through out many decades,
for example the Temple of king Solomon this aromatic herb was used to cleanse,to purify the temple.
Lavender was thought to Sharpen your vision and clarify thoughts,
its also associated with love and chaste and connected to fertility, which explains why some people add lavender buds/flowers to wedding cakes.
Some people used to ( perhaps still do) use a mixture of lavender buds and grounded Elemi Gum(resin) to make an incense which was often used in midsummer festivals, which was thought to enhance and help strengthen there mental and psychic capacity.
Lavender is an aromatic, shrubby, multi-branched herbal plant with a stem reaching a height of about 6 to 24 inches. Purple-colored flowers typically grow on the woody stems, although there are varieties that have pink and white flowers. Lavender bears very narrow, gray green leaves.
Lavender today can still be used in many ways :
Lavender is well known for its calming, antidepressant effects.
The dried flowers are the most powerfully scented part and can be used in herbal sleep pillows to help reduce insomnia, added to soaps for a gentle exfoliation, or to bath water to relax after a stressful day.
Or you can have lavender tea (using the buds).
Lavender tea may help calm nervousness and anxiety, it helps treat an upset stomach, as well as flatulence and colic. It may also be used to treat stomach and bowel infections.
it may also help induce sweating and reduce the body temperature during a fever...there are more but i dont want to prolong this review.
You Can Also Make an lavender oil From the buds if you soak them in olive oil for 29 days and keep them in a dark warm place.
People today seem to forget that everything we need in life grows right here in our backyard or in a forest, there are many plants capable of healing our human bodys, many of use have just forgotten how useful (if used in the proper ways) plants etc can be.
our ancestors or take the Chinese and Japanese herbalism for example they have been using plants, resins etc for century's and they live long prosperous healthy lives (not all but most compared to the west).
Overall: Lavender should be used more then just something pretty to watch grow in your garden, it should be used/harvested to help you become a more stable and healthy person. I have benefited from this herb with daily meditation,my stress has greatly reduced.
I recommend that everyone should use it.
The beneficial properties of ingesting (as a tea)lavender include flavonoids, tannins, courmarines, and essential oil containing camphor, geraniol and linalool.
Tip:To make lavender tea, simply infuse a handful of dried lavender blossoms in a pot of boiling water (2 to 3 cups of water depending on the handful). Let the tea steep for about 7 to 10 minutes(lid on). Then strain and enjoy.
To Get The Most out of Lavender Make sure it is organically grown.
Summary: You Have nothing to lose, Why not try growing your own?
