Gorgeous Smelling Plant

Lavender is a gorgeous plant if you can get it to grow. When we lived in our old house I bought a small bush and within a couple of years it was massive and gave off a beautiful scent and had lots of flowers. When we moved into out new house I bought another small bush to start again but found that it dwindled and died off within a few weeks. I thought may be it was because I was so busy with work and such that I was neglecting it but it died anyway so a couple of years later I bought another one and again the same thing happened.
Then I thought may be it was something to do with the soil in my garden so a couple of months ago I bought a new small lavender plant and this time I put it in a tub with fresh compost from a new bag. The bush is still quite small but it is thriving and you can see it has grown a bit since we put it in so I think we will finally have a good show of lavender in the next year or so. I am hoping the tub is big enough for the bush to be able to spread out and bloom properly.
The thing I am looking forward most to is the smell, I really miss it in our garden as it reminds me of my Mum. She used to cut stems off our old bush and tie them up with ribbon and then hang them around the house at her home. She always hung them upside down and then when they had dried out properly she would collect all the dried bits off the ends of the stems and use them to make lavender bags which we all got for Christmas and birthdays. These used to be hung up in our wardrobes or placed in drawers.
You can also cut the lavender and put it in a vase with some flowers, it makes the room smell lovely and the bushiness of the plant gives a good filling for a bunch of flowers especially if you have a bunch of purple or pink coloured flowers and want something to make them go a bit further and look more full.
If you can get this plant to grow in your garden or you have a spare place for a tub then I would really recommend you trying out this plant as it makes a lovely addition to any garden.
