      a great looking little tree

My hubby is rubbish at buying presents so now i buy my own, last christmas wholst wandering around ikea i saw that they were selling little minature orange trees, after pondering over it for a few minutes i decided to buy me one as a present from hubby.

Ikea sell there orange trees at £9.99 each which is relatively cheap compared to other places where they sell for around £25.

My tree is about 1 foot tall with beautiful tiny little oranges on it all over, literally hanging off the tree. I wandered if they were edible so looked it up on the net and they are so i tried one, they are just like little oranges except they are sweet on the out side and sour in the middle so you are better just putting the whole orange in your mouth, after you have peeled it that is and eating it that way as you get the mix of sweet and bitter at the same time making it very nice.

These little orange trees cant be left out side during winter as they cant withstand temperatures of less than 3'c, this is ok at the moment as my tree is so small but will eventualy grow to over 18 foot which will be imposible to bring inside then but that wont be for many years as they only grow 4 inches a year.

You can get a lot of different types of orange tree mine is a calamondin. It doesnt require a lot of water, once every 3 days but it does need a lot of light so i have put mine on a window sill in the sunlight to allow it to get enough light.

You will now how much to water it as if you dont give it enough water its leaves will shrivel up and when i first had mine i watered it every day and its leaves fell off, so you will have to experiment to get the balance right but once you have it is a very easy to care for tree and gives lovely little oranges.

It looks beautiful sitting on my window .
