Advantages: pretty, grow well when placed well

Disadvantages: need a lot of water

Peace Lilies are beautiful... they have long thin rich green leaves which are glossy and amazing white petals at the end of stems - almost as if the stem was going to grow another leaf but then changed its mind!

These plants are inexpensive, about £3 and I would say this is good value as they seem to last forever. They can be quite tempermental as they do require a lot of water and are very susceptable to temperature changes - they like no draughts, no extremes and no direct sunlight. However once you have found the right spot for them they flourish well; the leaves multiply very quickly and it will produce flowers at the rate of about one every three to four months.

I like them because they are simply gorgeous and are a step up from a basic fern or similar. The only word of caution would be that you cant leave them alone for a week whilst on holiday, they do need a top-up of water at least every three days otherwise they die quickly!

Summary: A great step up from ferns

Sounds like a nice way to bring life to a room, although my cats would probably eat it.
