Advantages: very good flavour

Disadvantages: not so versatile

I love potatoes, mash being my favourite way of eating them. On a holiday in Peru my husband and I agreed that we didn't much like the food except for the yellow potato soup and mash which were delicious. The flavour made us think the cooks had added cheese but were assured it wasn't so. As someone who loves cheese in my potato mash this was ideal as there was flavour with no added calories.
I was very pleased to read that the scientists have now developed a variety which can be grown in this country. They are called Phureja and I have bought them for a premium price in Sainsburys. They will still have to be a bit of a treat at the present price but if they become popular the price will hopefully drop.
I can recommend them to anyone who likes flavour, especially cheese lovers who have been told not to eat cheese! The info on the pack says that they have a nutty flavour, which you might agree with, but not to my tastebuds, which is good job as I do not like nuts.
They can be roasted and steamed but if you can't steam them then boil or microwave them for a short time only as they cook very quickly. You should find that you won't even have to add salt. I have no idea if you can make chips with them but it should be interesting to try.

Summary: Good, tasty, quick cook

A good compact review here but this is the general category for potatoes, not just one type.

You could suggest to Dooyoo a category especially for these new potatoes. If you need help or advice in how to suggest a product let me know.
