Advantages: VERY VERSATILE!
Disadvantages: takes time to cook em!
Right then as you can tell from my username I AM MAD ABOUT POTATOES. I luv em! Every good diet's balanced meal should contain some type of potato.
And you can do soooooo much with them! Mashed is mine and my Dad's peronal fave. One tip is to boil the potatoes up until they almost disintergrate and then mash them up when still hot. Then add some butter - mmmmm GORGEOUS!!! We used to add milk as well but without it they taste soooo much more natural and nicer.
Roast potatoes are delcious as well and everyone says that noone can make them quite like their Mum's or Granma's! The best way to do it it boil them up 1st and then put them on the tray with the meat that youre cooking then just turn them around when needed to! They're so much nicer when not perfect and there are bits sticking to the tray. For tips read Nigel Slaters cookery book - "Real Cooking" Its great for all the sorts of gormet (but proper/decent food) cooking at home!
There are so many ways in which you can cook potatoes - as the Waffle advert went "Grill em Bake em Fry em Eat em!" And thats exactly what you can do with them - THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!!!
