Advantages: Natural fragrance and a useful herb
Disadvantages: non
Rosemary, (Rosmarinus officinalis) is my favourite plant in the garden. The leaves are needle like and the pale blue or pink flowers blossom every summer. Every part of the plant has an aromatic fragrant and it stimulate your senses when you brush past a rosemary shrub. An established rosemary usually survive winter conditions
Rosemary is a popular Mediterranean plant that is commonly used as for culinary, medicinal and perfumery purposes. The leaves are usually dried or infuse into essential oils.
Propagating rosemary is easy. Simply pick a young rosemary stem and stick them into a fresh compost pot. The root system of the stem will appear in about 2 weeks. When the plant is well established, simply plant the rosemary shrub into the ground. Removing of young shoot of an established Rosemary shrub will encourage growth.
Rosemary is used as a marinade of meat especially lamb and is also commonly used in casserole dishes. However, too much of rosemary in a dish could overpower the other flavours so it is important not to over use the herb.
Rosemary can be found in many cosmetics, shampoos and it is also a good insect repellent.
I like to burn the essential oil as it is a natural way of cleansing the room of fungus and odours. I prefer the sense of rosemary as a perfume for home compared to chemically manufactured fragrance.
Summary: Fill your house with rosemary scent
