Advantages: Taste nice in smoothies, good price.

Disadvantages: Hard, small, not very juicy.

Strawberries are something that I do enjoy but I mainly try to add them to my diet to maintain good health and to achieve one of my five-a-day. I have been known to use them in milkshakes, smoothies, on top of cereal or with ice cream and sometimes (very rare though!) to eat them with cream or sugar on the top to bring out the sweetness a little more.

When browsing the fruit aisles at Sainsbury's I spotted a 250g punnet of these for just £1.00 and because I don't have the biggest appetite for them I put them in my basket already thinking of the mid-morning treat I'd make out of these. The punnet is a plastic container with the lid that's easy to remove although not so easy to get to stay back on afterwards! Because of the way these are packaged it's nice & easy to put this punnet in the fridge to keep the strawberries nice and chilled.

These strawberries are smaller in appearance than I would like and when I tried them they were not very juicy and a little too hard for my tastes. They are ripe & red in colour but not as nice as more expensive varieties of strawberries or the ones that I would usually buy from my local market.

I used the majority of my strawberries chopped up as part of smoothies and I got three mid-morning smoothies out of one punnet so still saw this as good value for money. I would not recommend them for eating alone as they are just a little too hard & on the small side, however, for the purpose I used them for they were very nice & still had a delicious strawberry taste so I am going to rate them 3/5.

Summary: An average strawberry that's best disguised in cooking or smoothies.
