Advantages: tasty. easy to find, good price in season

Disadvantages: none for me!

is the tomato a fruit or a vegetable? i don't actually care because whatever they are they are fantastic!

i love green & red ones, plum, cherry or round, fresh or sundried - even canned ones. ketchup or juice.

i love them all year round in salads with vinagrette dressing & chives or just plain with a dash of salt

i love them chopped in half & baked in the oven served on hot buttered toast & sprinkled with black pepper for a quick snack

they're great stuffed with minced beef/ lamb, onions & herbs & again baked in the oven

they make fantastic italian sauces & are good in casseroles, stews or curries

the red yummy things are super sliced on pizzas & for garnishing dishes such as cottage pie

can you tell i love toms yet?

they are low in calories, fairly high in fibre & high in vitamin c & sliced up & popped on the skin they give instant relief to sunburn so what more can you ask of this humble fruit/veg?

they make delicious soup - totally unlike the canned stuff - & don't cost too much (although this obviously depends on the time of year) - buying when in season is a sensible option.

blackpool tomatoes are my absolute favourite - very tasty indeed - but i wouldn't say 'no' to a good beefy spanish tomato!

of course the king (or queen) of tomatoes have to be the homegrown varieties!!

for 2 years now i have bought tomato plants called 'moneymaker 'from qvc - gorgeous & if i can grow them anyone can! you just pop into large pots & feed with tomato feed from poundland & keep watering - mmmm - mouthwatering taste.

can you tell yet that i love tomatoes?

they are so yummy with a big fry-up breakfast, stuffed with cottage cheese & chives, made into chutneys & pickles, bloody marys - the list is endless

sorry to all those tomato-haters out there or for those poor folk who get allergies from tomatoes but i really had to write this review!

no, i don't work for for the tomato marketing board but if there any jobs involving tasting them i'll apply right now!

i bought 1lb canary tomatoes this morning (89p) so am just debating whether to fry. grill, bake or stuff 'em.....

summary
~
good for you nutritionally

so versatile

great taste

Summary: the best fruit/ veg around as far as i'm concerned!
