Advantages: Yellow bells

Disadvantages: poisonous

Every time I go to the plant section I notice a few plants without reviews. These plants I have not grown so have not written a review on before. I do know a little about Allamanda carthica this flower of the dogbane family (Apocynaceae ) can be called Buttercup flower, Golden trumpet or Yellow bell. I saw this in a tropical greenhouse somewhere.

This shrub grows to a couple of metres tall. It has thick dark green shiny leaves the flowers are large yellow trumpets about 3 or 4 inches /8 to9 cm. It flowers most of the year.

This striking flower is a native of Brazil, grows in most Caribbean islands also Australia
In its native countries this plant grows wild along river banks in a sunny position, the yellow bell does not like shade or frosts.
This plant is grown to make a good ground cover is good as a hedge.
I do not think I have seen this plant in the uk garden . I can not find much info about it growing in the UK

This plant is poisonous if ingested (eaten) also will produce a red rash if your skin comes in contact with the white milky sap.

Summary: A shrub that has yellow bell like flowers
