Advantages: Quiet / Good picture quality

Disadvantages: Went faulty / poor engineer fixes

I purchased this TV back in november 2006. It was my first Plasma / HD ready TV, and I loved it (after going from a 42" Rear projection TV)
My first impressions were 'wow!'. It makes me giddy now thinking just how great this TV was for it's price. I paid around £1,200 for the set, plus another £300 for a stand and surround sound kit.
At the time of purchase I didn't have a HD source, but an xbox 360 was quickly aquired to test out the HDMI connectivity.

Standard definition (SD) was great using the in built freeview, and the High definition (HD) was just amazing, which had an maximum output of 720p.

The speakers on the set weren't great for watching films or playing loud for music as they distorted quite easily, hence the reason I purchased the surround sound kit (I'll write a review on that later) The speakers themselves are located across the footer of the TV, within the silver trim.

The TV has loads of connections on the rear such as HDMI, component, composite, scart and s-video, enough to connect your VCR, DVD, Freeview, Xbox 360 etc.

The TV weighs around 25kg, which isn't heavy for a TV this size.

Problems:

In March 2007, we had a fault occur on the TV. There were little red sparkles (also reffered to as red mist, red snow, red sparklies). What this ment was, on any dark area there were these little red dots covering the screen. This wasn't a huge problem at first, but over the space of a few weeks it began to annoy me, resulting in me calling LG.
They sent 2 engineers out, and had the TV taken away once.
Eventually the TV was collected and returned to my local store and we were provided with a credit note for £1,200.
The new TV I purchased was a Samsung PS50C7HDX - I will write this review next.

Summary: Worth the money, but I only owned it for 6 months
