The PlasmaSync 50MP2 delivers an awesome 1, 365 x 768 pixel resolution for incredibly sharp detail and truly beautiful color reproduction. It not only conveys your information accurately, it actually enhances your presentation. NEC developed a DSP LSI for this monitor that uses a large 64MB memory to more than double interface processing capacity, so all video input interlace image signals are progressive. This enables sharp reproduction of images free from flickering, not only of digital satellite broadcasts, but even of data-transmitted text information. The 2-3 pull-down function used on previous models has been upgraded, permitting compatibility with both 480I and 1080I signals, for even higher picture quality with digital HDTV broadcasts.

Now, for the first time in a plasma monitor, you can simultaneously display video and computer images. MULTI SCREEN operations let you show a video accompanied by data from a PC monitor - or even view websites as the presentation proceeds. Previously, video and computer images couldn't be displayed together because of their different refresh rates, but NEC solved the problem by developing a new multi-rate processing LSI. The PlasmaSync 50MP2 screen is composed of more than one million tiny pixels. Its 0.81 x 0.81 pixel pitch results in an extremely dense pixel grid: 1, 365 x 768, or 1, 048, 320 pixels. This density provides excellent clarity and crispness, and in addition, the pixels are square, for even greater precision with virtually no distortion. Even when displaying complex graphics and small characters, the detail and resolution of this 50MP2 are remarkable. The Digital Zoom function lets you make any part of the image being displayed up to 900% in 64 steps. This can be done with any type of input signal and with a wide range of resolutions. You can blow up small details, emphasize key points, accentuate positive parts of a report (zoom in on those soaring sales figures!) and make any presentation look more dramatic without loosing readability.

You can connect the 50MP2 to a computer via the DVI connector for direct input of digital RGB signals. This ensures that high-quality images are virtually free of jitter and distortion with no need for clock phase adjustment. NEC developed a new chassis for this monitor, with a divided structure made of diecast aluminum. Lighter and stronger than previous models, it also enables more efficient cooling. This allowed to reduce the number of cooling fans from five to three, resulting in the industry's lowest noise level for monitors with fans, 22dBA. Amazingly, the 50MP2 is 12kg lighter than the previous generation, weighing in at a very manageable 44kg (97.9 lbs.).

The PlasmaSync 50MP2 is designed for flexibility and ease of use. Offering full compatibility with a wide range of video signals (NTSC, PAL, SECAM), PC signals and DTV formats (480P, 480I, 720P and 1080I), the 50MP2 ensures that images are optimally displayed. What's more, thanks to PlasmaSync's square pixels, a scan converter automatically coverts full XGA and UXGA signals. Other sources, including direct digital input of RGB signals from PCs, can be connected in seconds.
