V-Real is the collective name for Panasonic's innovative picture-enhancing technologies. Proud to produce Viera's key devices in-house from processor to driver to panel Panasonic ensures the very best in plasma performance. The V-Real processor processes the raw video signal it receives, outputting an incredibly high-quality signal recognized by the driver.

The PX60 range includes a digital processing chip-set which processes the HD video signal in its original condition, without down conversion. Meanwhile, the Digital Re-Mastering Processor up-converts standard definition video signals to provide highly expressive images with exceptional detail.

Panasonic's V-Real technology offers vibrancy and richness to blacks and colors. The Advanced 3D Color Management System achieves precise control based on 3D management in the color difference plane and brightness directions. Color, brightness and luminosity are independently detected to produce the optimal quality in each, resulting in reproduction of colors that are bright and beautiful.

Panasonic's Contrast Management System optimizes the contrast by matching it to the images in each scene. Instead of losing gradation by making part of the image too bright or too dark, this technology applies just the right amount of contrast correction for each part of the scene.

My criteria for a TV were: * 32 or 37 inch * Good picture in SD (normal TV, ie freeview) * I didn t need a full HD TV as I do not own anything HD and am unlikely to get any HD hardware in years. * TV picture needed to be good from 6 - 8 feet away My biggest annoyance with flat screen TVs are the grainy pixelated edges you get on the picture. This drives me absolutely nuts. When asking staff/colleagues about this I was told it s to do with the transmission from the TV channel and the size/distance away from the TV. I m still not 100% convinced by this though. My initial research for a new television started with a trip to Comet. I wrote down all the TVs that I liked ...

There are three key features that make this set very keen VFM. a) Firstly, try finding a 37 inch set from a major maker for £499 without it being an old model. b) It s just about the smallest plasma set anyone makes. c) 100hz technology usually adds about £100 or so to a set, if Panasonic s other sets are anything to go by. lag whilst watching Sin City, but that is the only time have noticed something to criticise. The Picture from the built in freeview also look superb. The set looks really nice in our lounge. We did originally have it on an Alphason AD93/s stand, which looked amazing, but we now have it on a M&S TV stand (we had to buy a pedestal stand for the TV) and it still looks brilliant. The remote is well laid out and easy to use and screen menus are easy to navigate and well laid out. We have never had a problem with this TV and, currently, have no plans to upgrade to a HD set as this fits our purpose exactly. Highly recommend this ...
