Product Type: Panasonic 3D Plasma

Advantages: The price is so reasonable for such a good TV, has a really big screen and the bigger the better!
Disadvantages: Some TV geeks say it needs more features - not a disadvantage for me though!
I live with students and most of the things that we have in our house are old, scruffy or broken. Our microwave doesn't always turn on, the heating comes on when it feels like it and we never have any toilet paper. Yet somehow we have an amazing TV which is almost too big for our living room.
None of us are rich by any stretch of the imagination and we could have never afforded to buy this TV ourselves. Tempting and flashy as this may have looked in a gadget shop, we didn't steal it. It was a Christmas present to my gorgeous (gold digging-!) flatmate from her well off ex-boyfriend. Obviously they were still all loved up and seeing each other at the time that he bought it for her. But then things went wrong. Whenever he came round to see her, he ended up spending most of his time watching the TV instead. While she was trying to get his attention his eyes would be glued to the 42 inch, 1,366 x 768 pixel screen which does look impressive.
She would be chatting away, asking him questions, trying to flirt to get him to pay attention to her, but he would just nod and give non-sensical answers which showed blatantly that he was just not listening to her. She could leave the room and come back an hour later while the football was on and he wouldn't have even noticed that she had gone. At least it meant she could get some of her assignments done!
In the end she dumped him. She ended one relationship with him and started a new love affair, this one with the TV. And since she has free reign on the remote she has been getting less assignments done than ever. She is in love with that TV. She sits there with chocolates crying over romantic comedies and sad romantic films all day, all evening and then sleeps until the next morning when she can do it all again. And sometimes when I'm not doing my work or at university, I will join her.
When we first put the TV up we were all really impressed. I remember when flat screen TVs first came out and they looked so stylish. Well I really think that this one still does. I was so surprised when I discovered (only through research because of writing this review) how cheap this TV is. I had expected, and so had my flatmates, that this TV would have costed at least a thousand pounds. But I almost fell off my chair when I just discovered now that it can be bought online for under £400! I think that is a fantastic price, what a bargain!
The brand is Panasonic, a brand I would typically associate with televisions. I can't think that they make anything else, maybe cameras, but definitely lots of TVs and I can only ever recall hearing anything good about the brand too.
I know I have just bigged up the TV and made it sound really amazing, well perhaps this is only because of where it is. Amidst the wreckage of a student home this TV does shine out like a diamond in a big pile of coal. Which means it would probably fit in nicely with most people's family living rooms. It is predominantly black and quite shiny. I think the main thing that really makes it so prominent is its fairly large size. It means I can watch Emmerdale from across the room and not have to squint to read the subtitles. Wow I sound less like a student and more like an OAP. Anyway the large screen definitely has its benefits, and as with many things in life, the bigger the better.
Some people say it is less how big it is and more what you can do with it. To be honest in terms of technology there isn't a lot you can do with this, according to TV geeks. For me there is plenty of different things I can use it for to entertain myself. I can use it to watch freeview, and watch DVDs, and even play music on it through a USB, which really is all I would expect (and more - never thought I could play music from a tv!) to get from a TV. But one of our geeky media-technology-internet-computer-nerdy ;-course studying friends recently came round and informed me that with a lot of TVs you can now access the internet, get 3d etc. I fear these things would be far too complicated for me and would probably blow my little mind trying to figure out how to use it all and get the most of the TV. When I watch TV I am watching it to relax, not to stress about using all the features. Ok so it does not have smart functionality (?) So what. If I can use it to watch emmerdale and occasionally the news, I am happy.
However for all of you who were wondering, the features this does have are: It has a USB port and an SD card slot capable of playing multimedia video, photo and music files of the following formats: AVCHD, SD-Video, MotionJPEG, MP4, DivX HD, WMV, MKV, AVI, MP3, AAC, WMA, and JPEG. It also has two HDMIs and a LAN port.
Overall I would definitely recommend this TV and for the price I think it is such a bargain. When I'm buying things for my own home I will definitely be rushing out to buy one of these TVs. Its at the top of my list of things to buy when I move into my own home. It's a great TV which is easy to use, was so easy to set up and is not expensive. It has a big screen and is just generally a great TV.
Summary: Would definitely recommend this reasonably priced, wide screen TV.
