Lets be straight about this from the off: this isnt a top-of-the-line tv. Its a 50" plasma for less than £1000. As a 'budget' big tv though, it is superb.
I spent a month going back and forth between LG, Sony Bravia and Samsung. My 2 previous tv's have been Samsung LCDs and I have nothing but praise for them. But all the smart people in the know switch to plasma when going for 46" or above.
I compared the different options side by side in Currys and this one looked the best to me. I had it delivered and was not disappointed. I have a normal sky+ box and picture looks better than my friend's sky+ HD picture on his Sony Bravia. Its crisper, the action is crystal clear and the colours are great.
The colours, contrast and pretty much everything else are adjustable in the settings - which you can save as your own personal presets (if maybe you need different settings for watching movies from your laptop compared to sport on sky).
The connections are ample. HDMI's, scart, s-video, component. I bought an HDMI converter lead for my macbook and it treats the plasma as a second monitor. I can watch a movie in HD played straight from the laptop.
As I said at the beginning, I am sure there are better tv's out there. But in my opinion, there are no better tv's of this size in this price range. You will not be disappointed.
