I purchased this TV back in April 2007, after my previous LG 42" Plasma went faulty.
The TV is 50" HD ready plasma (720p or 1080i is it's maximum output) It weighs in at arrond 45kg including the table top stand.
This set has a matt black finish, with a silver strip across the bottom, which I feel breaks up the huge black screen nicely.
There the Samsung logo located at the footer, with the power button underneath this. Now, for a 'ON/OFF' button, it is damn sexy. It lets of a circular blue glow when on standby, and flashes each time you change the chanel / adjust the volume.
Connectivity on this set is great too, with 1 x HDMI, 2 x Scart, 1 x Audio IN, 1 x Audio OUT, 1 x Composite, 1 x Component and 1 x S-Video. More than enougn for your AV equipment.
The picture quality is superb, with great blacks, and vivid colours.
The sound is great, with enough punch not to need a surround kit with it's inbuilt speakers.
This TV is user friendly, withe easy to use menu and options, and the inbuilt freeview menu is fantastic, and is as good as standard SKY (displaying the next 7 days worth of TV on all freeview channels, also providing you the option to auto-remind for your favourite shows)
In my opinion, 1080P is a must for any 50" plasma, and this TV dosen't have it.
Problems! I had issues with this TV too, this time there was a fault with the actual screen, which caused green dots all over the screen from cold, but got better when warmed up.
The TV was taken away twice, and looked at on 3 seperate visits by engineers. In the end the TV was written off, and I was provided with ANOTHER credit note to purchase another TV (this is being delivered tomorrow)
Overall, this is a fantastic budget set, and without the problems, it lasted 18 months perfect.
