Playmobil 4498 Dog Family
by mickr
Playmobil 4498: Dog Family
We have just started purchasing Playmobil items for our little one as Playmobil has always been highly recommended to us by our friends with youngsters as well as those who had sets when they were young. We found that a lot of Playmobil sets are rather expensive, so to start our little one off, we ... have begun to buy the smaller sets so over time the collection will grow without breaking our bank!
We purchased this set on Ebay for £2.50, though I have seen prices for this particular set range up to around £7.00. Personally, I think that £7.00 is a little too much for what it is, though as we are starting to realise, Playmobil does not come cheap! This is one reason I have trawled places such as Ebay and Car Boot sales in the last six months! At the moment, Amazon have this reduced from £6.99 to £6.13.
Within this set you will find;
* Four dogs; one large black dog with brown and white patches and three small baby dogs. The large dog has some great detail upon it, though the smaller ones lack in this same detail. They are still recognisable as dogs, though I think it such a shame that the detail did not cover all the dogs. The dogs have movable heads which move up and down and the larger dogs tail also moves.
* Dog kennel; Quite a large sized yellow and red kennel with a doorway to allow access to all dogs, even the big one. As the doorway covers the whole of the front, it is easy to get the dogs in and out.
* Playmobil child with the usual movable arms, legs and head and graspable hands.
* String of sausages which the child can hold.
* Dog Bowl and Bone.
This set is recommended for the age of four plus, though I personally see no problems with younger children from perhaps three playing with it.
My little one loves anything to do with animals and this set is no different. She has a few Playmobil animal sets and we often see all the animals playing together! I also think this is a lovely little set, though it is a shame about the lack of detail on the smaller dogs. I do not think I would pay £7.00 for this set, though the lesser price paid is reasonable. Playmobil 3210 Guinea Pigs

Playmobil 3210: Guinea Pigs
We have just started purchasing Playmobil items for our little one as Playmobil has always been highly recommended to us by our friends with youngsters as well as those who had sets when they were young. We found that a lot of Playmobil sets are rather expensive, so to start our little one off, we ... have begun to buy the smaller sets so over time the collection will grow without breaking our bank!
We purchased this set on Ebay for £1.50, though I have seen prices for this particular set range up to around £8.00. Personally, I think that £8.00 is a little too much for what it is, though as we are starting to realise, Playmobil does not come cheap! This is one reason I have trawled places such as Ebay and Car Boot sales in the last six months!
Within this set you will find;
* A green 'grass' base which is raised slightly from the floor. The silver four sided fence easily slots into the base as well as the small guinea pig house which has a red roof and brown/cream sides. The hutch has a small opening at the front to allow the guinea pigs to be put in and out, though the hole is rather small and getting the animals out again can be quite tricky without physically lifting the house off of the base and tipping them out!
* Two Playmobil children who are both in modern dress which slightly resemble farm yard clothes. As usual with Playmobil, their arms, legs and head move and their hands twist and are like little grips so they can hold on to certain items.
* Four guinea pigs of different colours which are quite small and get lost easily!
* A tortoise which is an unusual addition to the set though rather a nice little one
* Cabbages which are used for the animal's food though do nothing in particular.
This little set comes as part of the farm range, though can be played as a stand alone toy also. We do not have the main farm set as of yet, though my little one adores playing with this set alone and with her other Playmobil sets. Unfortunately, one of the guinea pigs have been lost as they are so small and a bit of fencing has bent slightly which means she can not slot it in herself, though apart from being bent, it seems durable enough to withstand actual breakages.
In my opinion, I think this is a lovely little set, though I would not have paid full price for it.
Recommended at the lower price range!
A/N: There is also a similar, more up-to-date guinea pig set which consists of more guinea pigs, two cabbages and a small green stand for £4.00, though personally I think if you want to get one of the sets, the main set of this review seems much better. Read the complete review |

Playmobil 4458 Bunnies' First Day of School

Playmobil 4458: Bunnies' First Day of School
We have just started purchasing Playmobil items for our little one as Playmobil has always been highly recommended to us by our friends with youngsters as well as those who had sets when they were young. We found that a lot of Playmobil sets are rather expensive, so to start our ... little one off, we have begun to buy the smaller sets so over time the collection will grow without breaking our bank!
We were actually given this set by a friend, though I have seen prices range between £4.99 right up to a ridiculous £17.99. At the moment of writing this review, Amazon was out of stock and so there was no price there. I think that the smaller price is great for this set, though the top price is certainly not worth it!
I had never seen this type of Playmobil before. The usual Playmobil figures consist of people and animals, whereas this set mixes the two! The people ARE bunnies! I had a quick look online and there are actually a number of bunny people sets from Playmobil including the actual Bunny schoolhouse to which this set is a part of. Of course, like other sets, you do not need to have all the bigger sets as this can be a stand alone toy also.
I believe that this range came out as an Easter Special.
Within this set you will find;
* Two bunny children who are a little bit taller than the average Playmobil children due to their ears, both wearing trousers and long sleeved tops with no shoes. Their heads, arms and legs are movable as usual Playmobil figures as well as their hands being able to grip on to things.
* Two backpacks which clip on easily to the backs of the bunnies
* A red scooter (bike scooter) with wheels that turn and handlebars which the bunnies can hold on to.
* Three coloured eggs
* A carrot shaped present to give to the teacher which the bunnies can hold.
* A small raised grass area with removable flowers that the bunnies can hold.
My little one absolutely adores these bunny people as she loves bunnies. The accessories that come with this set are able to be used with other Playmobil figures too, so my little one has a lot of fun mixing and matching. Out of all the Playmobil bits she has now, this set is possibly the most played with. The eggs, however, are now down to two as one decided to go for a walk somewhere!
In my opinion, I think this set is well worth it. I do not know whether I would have originally bought it if we had not have been given it as the bunny heads seemed a little unusual to me, though my little one loves them and I have come to love them too. Not sure about the names my little one have given the bunnies though; Bun and Cake!
Well recommended! Read the complete review |
