Advantages: Good for imaginary play
Disadvantages: can be expensive
One of the toys Adrian got for Christmas was this Playmobil forklift 3003.
I his mum bought it for him on eBay with several other playmobil toys. The suggested price for this toy is £29. To give you an idea of prices in $ I found it at $25.99 hunt around and you should get it a few pounds cheaper. Hunt around and you should get it a few pounds cheaper. Hunt around and you should get it a few pounds cheaper. Playmobil is sold in most good toy shops hunt around and you should get it a few pounds cheaper. www.stewarttoys.com/product/4008789030030 has it for £23 .39p
www.stewarttoys.com/product/4008789030030 has it for £11.33p
The forklift toy includes a figure forklift truck pallet, transportation boxes, cylinders and a shelf.
So that this toy is stable and does not fall over when your child (over)loads it there is a bottom balancing weight.
There is also a playmobil person in his blue overalls and with his red safety helmet on.
The fork of the lift vehicle’s height width and tilt is fully adjustable. The pallet and transport boxes can be stacked
This toy as with most other playmobil toys is recommended for a child aged 4 and over, I think I will probably see Adrian aged 7 still playing with this toy sometimes . playmobil has several parts which are small and not suitable for younger children.
Although Adrian got this second hand it is in very good condition. Playmobil toys are well constructed and last well. Playmobil toys are often found in nursery/pre school settings. Although they are expensive I think because they are well constructed and have a lot of play value they are worth the money.
As with most small boys/and some girls Adrian loves to see builders working with their trucks and diggers and watch then building houses and working on the roads.
This toy is a good addition to his toys to inspire and fulfil his imaginary play world. I love to see him kneeling on the floor blond head down bottom in the air playing with his toys talking to them. Watching him play with this he pushed the truck over to the bricks he had been building put some pallets on the fork lift and elevated them up to the top of the building saying up up up stop now” he then tried to perch them on top of the pile of bricks , unsuccessfully . Next he jumps the driver out of the seat and takes him to the bricks mutters to him (I can’t hear clearly what he says) now he picks up the bricks and piles it up again. Adrian spends about 20 minutes with this toy and the other trucks he has he explores how the fork lift tilts and adjusts.
Adrian will be able to play with the playmobil forklift independently or if used with other toys it can be used to play with other children building and making a play scene.
While Adrian is playing with this fork lift he is learning, practicing his skills. This is good for his fine motor skills his co-ordination.
A little about Playmobil toys generally
During my career working with children in various settings nursery schools, playgroups, infant schools, children’s homes and now a special needs school I have often encountered toys made by playmobil. They have always been a well regarded toy by care staff and children alike.
The company Playmobil is a German company its roots are in a metal and lock factory making locks and other sheet metal products. This company was started by Andreas Brandstätter in 1876 and after several name changes became the Brandstätter group that now produces Playmobil. The company made locks, telephones and as well as other products made from sheet metal products for toy shops. In 1954 they started using plastic.
In 1958 this company produces the hula hoop. After the craze for hula hoop the company developed more toys and the brand name Playmobil was born. It was not until 1974 that Playmobil was introduced at the international toy fair in Neuremberg. Now Playmobil toys are enjoyed by children worldwide. Their designer Hans Beck created Playmobil figures and vehicles in the early seventies. The playmobil figures are super have a lovely simple childish face. Playmobil was introduced at the 1974 International Toy Fair in Nuremberg.
There are many playmobil toys see http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites- GB-Site for a full list. There are several games on this site which seem good to me.
Thanks for reading, have fun playing with your children’s toys .Mary
