“ Brand: Playmobil / Theme: Leisure / Age: 4 Years „
I always used to steer clear of Playmobil as it looked very expensive, but I have to say my opinion has completely changed since buying this toy for my son.
As I said I usually gave Playmobil a wide berth in the toy shop until my little boy spied this camper van one day and somehow I got talked into it, I must say I am very glad that I did, This is without a doubt the best value toy I have bought for either of my children.
What You Get
In the box is a lovely yellow camper van the detail is amazing everything that you would expect of a real camper is here, the entire roof of the van is removable making it very easy to access the inside of the camper, once inside there are removable beds under which is all the storage compartments for the dishes, knifes, forks, spoons and cups, the set even has play food, little tiny tins and cartons of juice every one of which has it's own little storage place under the beds.
There is a table and seating inside the main body of the camper, with a kitchen and shower room, with toilet.
Moving up to the front of the van there are another two beds over the driver and passenger seats, there is a little gear stick, the steering wheel turns and there is even a mobile phoneholder and yes a tiny mobile phone.
There is a fire extinguisher and even a gas tank.
The roof of the camper has a removable box inside are a picnic table and chairs for outdoor eating.
Moving along to the back of the camper and a little door opens to reveal the bike storage area, two bikes are included and each has a little plastic stand.
The family is Mum, Dad, A little girl and a little boy, the great thing is the people actual stay on the bikes and don't keep falling off, they can hold the little cups the mobile phone and the camera, YES THERE REALLY IS A LITTLE CAMERA included.
With the roof back on you can pull out the awning just like on the real thing.
OK now we know what is in the box is it actually a good toy to play with, in short YES.
My little boy has played with this for almost two years it is a toy that is out at least three times a week, he acts out little stories like the little boy and the dad are going on a bike ride while mummy makes a picnic, people are just the right size and the van is not too big but just right for little hands, he has had many hours playing happily with this campervan.
The quality is outstanding, the detail is fantastic, the fact that every single item has its place inside the toy means that it can all be packed up with no little loose bits to get lost.
We bought ours for about £25.00 2 years ago and I must say it is the best £25.00 ever spent.
The age range on this item is 4+ years there are a lot of very small parts eg the cups knifes etc.
I would recomend anyone buy this for their child boy or girl as it is one of those rare timeless toys that just keeps getting played with.
This is my second purchase of playmobil, after the Pony Ranch which is fab, this set is equally great and includes an array of little accessories that playmobil is famous for. The camper van comes complete with people and bikes and lots of food and drinks. We love setting up the table with the tiny cutlery, plates and cups and then pretending to serve out the food. (Setting the table with such tiny things is tricky but great fun - brilliant for improving co-ordination!) What I love about this set is that everything goes back tidy into the camper van and can be stored in its roof box or under the beds so you don't need to keep the box to store everything if you want to put it away for a while. It's a sturdy set aswell, my son likes to push it around the room and he puts quite a lot of weight on it and it doesn't break - a wheel might pop off sometimes but they just push back on in true playmobil style.
This was the start of my daughter's collection of playmobil and I have to say the best toy she has ever had.
I reckon this is one of the best playmobil pieces there is. It's genius, firstly it's compact so everything fits into the camper van yet it comes with so many pieces.
I love the fact it is just like a real camper van, it has storage in the roof box for picnic table and two chairs. Inside the camper are table and chairs to sit at, a sink to wash up in with a pull out tap (pretend of course!), there is a toilet and shower cubicle. Then obviously there's the drivers seat complete with a mobile phone holder and the mobile phone - no sat nav yet!!
You can take the roof off and 4 beds are stored 2 above the main camper bit and two at the back for children, the children's bed's lift off to reveal a little treasure trove of 4 cups, 4 saucers, 4knives, forks & spoons, a little saucepan, frying pan, a few tins and cartons of juice. It all fits perfectly.
Inside is also the all important fire extinguisher - not to forget safety of course.
Then there's a space at the back of the camper for two bikes. We have also found that the playmobil bbq fits nicely in this space too! This section also holds the water bottle for the camper.
We have also found that the tongs from the bbq set and the babies bottle & bowl from another set fit under the beds if you carefully manover stuff!
There is also an awning which pulls out to keep the sun off on those sunny holidays!
I have to say this is excellent value for money and as always playmobil are such good fun to play with as the little people actually hold the items and can sit and stand easily.
I guess I have as much fun with this as the kids I adore playmobil.
In my attic and some of my cupboards I have a great selection of Playmobil sets, which my son played with for years. I've also passed some on to nephews and nieces, but kept the best to pass on to any grandchildren.
The Camper Van has been around for a while now but its cream and yellow colours have been driven round my living rooms (this house and the last house) a distance, which I hate to measure if scaled up. If it had been real the tyres would undoubtedly need replacing, the exhaust too I'd expect, but being that this is a toy by Playmobil I knew the quality would be excellent and it would last forever. It has been a while since it was last aired but in its time it has served some very serious usage and given endless hours of enjoyment to both my son and I.
It has a removable cream top, which reveals a sleeping area where the beds can be removed. Plastic covers of course. There is a nice round table, which can also be removed for outside picnics. All doors open and the steering wheel turns. It also comes with mummy daddy son and daughter. My son used to play with it for ages. Just making them talk Mummy he'd say and then the adventure began. The BBQ comes as part of the Camper Kit and consists of a BBQ pretend food all utensils. The detail, which has gone into creating this kit, is extensive; virtually anything you can imagine you might need when going camping in a van is there. It is also really quite big which I suppose it has to be to get all the details correct, and to facilitate the use of all the little extras that come with the camper.
It is currently available for around the £25 mark, and I do believe this is great value for money. My son spent hours and hours playing with this, and indeed the other kits also available.
There are many other kits in the Playmobil range, such as Pirates and Emergency Services, but it's a long time since they first came on the market. I still see some stuff in the shops but not in the quantities they used to be. The kits are all sized in proportion to each other so adding kits just extends the play and increases your child's imagination.
As I previously mentioned the detail and care that went into the production of this toy was second to none. Some of the parts like pieces for the BBQ were quite small so some supervision is necessary but believe me this is no hardship I played with my son with this and we created all kinds of stories and tales.................wonder if he fancies climbing up the attic and getting them down.
In conclusion this series of kits is a great buy. Some of the parts however are quite small and some supervision might be required. This shouldn't be a problem though since the camper van will not only provide the little one with hours of imaginative fun, you will most probably have a fair bit of enjoyment yourself as you and you child delve into the wonderful imaginary world of Playmobil.
Faced with a plethora of playmobil in John Lewis my five year old daughter chose to buy this Family Camper with her birthday money, having had the harsh reality broken to her that no, she couldn't quite afford the humungous hospital and where would we put it anyway?
The camper came in a quite satisyingly big box with lots of bits. From my measurements for an item which is about 33cm by 11cm there is a lot packed in and a great deal of play value. The van did require a bit of daddy-aided assembly, nothing too tricky - four wheels to assemble and put on and wing mirrors to fit and the van was good to go.
Like all the playmobil we have the camper is a nicely made and detailed toy. The manufacturer says that the toy is for 4 +, probably due to the tiny pieces of food and cutlery that come with it. That said, I am quite happy for my two and a half year old to play with it which she does nicely - so I think parental discretion should be used as to whether to remove some of the smaller items until the child is older.
The van opens up with the roof being removed to reveal 4 beds for the oh-so-nuclear family that come with the set (mum, dad, one girl and one boy). There is a foldable table and four chairs that are stowed in the roof, also the side door opens so the people can get to their eating area, small bathroom with shower and toilet, kitchen and the driving area. There are a couple of bikes and a gas cylinder that also stow in a little cubbyhole to the rear of the van - oh and there is also a fire extinguisher for the safety conscious family. The best bit for me is the food items - they are all hidden under two of the beds with 4 little plates, cups, cutlery and a couple of pans. There are little tins and cartons of juice. It is just so cute!
When the kids can wrestle the van away from me (tidying up the little bits is so much more satisying than trying to tidy my actual house) they both really enjoy playing with it. The toy is well made and able to stand up to being pushed around and all the parts work well. An older visiting child aged 7 was still quite happy to play with the van and put out the table and food and pull out the awning. The camper is a great aid to imaginative play.
As with all playmobil items it is good to know that should any of the smaller pieces like the teeny-tiny mobile phone that fits in the dashboard end up lost they can be replaced quite easily. Playmobil actually have a database on their website at www.playmobil.de (link to the British site on the homepage) where you can find out the part number and you can then order extra bits by phone for a small charge. From experience they will send any item that is missing from the box for free, no questions asked. All in all great service.
The camper van cost £24.99 when purchased and is currently available at about £29.99 from most places I have seen it. I would say that for what you get it is good value and provides hours of fun. Playmobil is a great brand and this is a fantastic toy.
Because the grandson was so enthusiastic about the playmobil set he was given, our daughter decided to pick him up another one when she saw it in the shops. It was on offer for £19.99 but normally it costs £29.99. Just to be helpful, I had a look on the web and found you can buy this online from Amazon for that latter price.
This brilliant little set all comes neatly packed away in a box when you buy it and does need some adult assembly time - especially for children under about six or seven years old I think. There are loads of little bits in the box so it's best played with while there's an adult around too for younger children. The age range is for 4yrs+ though I think most 3yr olds and over would get some enjoyment out of this as long as someone is around to help with the fiddly extras (or remove them from the set until the child is a bit older). Grandad has been having good fun with this though!
Firstly there's the camper van and it comes with loads of working parts. Like you can open the doors, windows and even pull up the sun shade bit so the family can sit underneath it. The family figures that come with the play set can all get in the back and lay in their little beds or they can sit in the driving bit at the front and go driving along off on their holiday. There's even a little boot bit for storing luggage away in.
The accessories then include a little picnic table with chairs, a couple of bikes for the family to ride on and loads of bits of cutlery for the family to sit and eat their dinner with. The little bikes are good because you can sit the people on them and the wheels turn round as you push them along.
I remember having playmobil for my lot when they were tots and it's as good now as it was then. I think the £30 price tag for this play set is about right though of course it's great that my daughter managed to spot this for £20. I think this would make a great toy to take on holiday as a surprise treat for four or five year olds as it would help them understand a bit about holidays as well as being a great toy to play with. I have to give this five stars.
