      Very helpful

Well thought out set - lots to keep kids entertained, not too big a set.

This knight set was bought for my eldest son by his grandparents when he was 6 last year. This set is a fantastic play set. It is not that big in size, but has an awful lot with it for its retail price of between £15 and £20. It is classed as a super set.

The set needed minimal assembly when it came. The set comes as a plastic base measuring 38.4 x 25 x 7.6cm. There were a few bits to slot into the base - bits meant to resemble plants and fire. I set this one up, and I was having a really stupid moment when I did it as it took ages to figure out how to make the plant out of a couple of pieces of green plastic. I had a real d'oh moment when I finally worked out the instructions. There is a smaller bit of plastic looking like rocks. This hides a little hole where the kids can hide things like the gold coins that came with this set, or the swords and axes that came with the set.

The set has two figures. Both are knights with shields and appropriate choices of weapons. There is then a black dragon with fire coming out of its mouth, and a manacle to attach it via a chain to guard the hole.

The recommended age on this one is 5 plus. I think this is a great recommendation personally as the coins are tiny and would very easily be swallowed, and they are also easily misplaced. We've had a number of sets with these coins. I find them really frustrating as they get everywhere and I am always picking them up all over the house.

Apart from the coins the other pieces are not quite as small. You could manage this by taking out the smaller coins and just leaving the gold sword and crown for the dragon to defend.

Upper age range is around ten years old. I am not sure how much a ten year old would want to play with this set, though it is more appealing than some other sets from the playmobil catalogue.

I like that there is lots of imaginative play stimulated through this set. The dragon adds a slightly different angle to other sets we own and my children find it really exciting to play with. It has had lots of play as my eldest son has been learning about knights at school this term, so he has enjoyed learning through play at home as well.

Like all the playmobil sets, it is well made. This one feels really good value compared to some and it is also small enough to not take up too much storage room if space is an issue. It also can be set up really independently by children once the initial set up is done. This is not the case for the largest sets.

I give this one 5 stars. It has resulted in lots of fun in our house and I would buy it again without hesitation.
