Advantages: quite a lot for the price here
Disadvantages: not very pc
There's quite a great deal of play value to be had from these two baby elephants and their accompanying humans which we bought 2 Christmases ago to go with the Circus Tent (playmobil 4230) and which is part of quite a range of add on circus items. We paid £10 or so back then, and this set can, having checked, still be bought for that price from a range of online retailers.
The two elephants, which are about 7cm tall come with headpieces and a coat, as you can see in the picture. These can be removed, should your young toy owner wish to liberate the elephants. We do find the decoration on the headpiece is a little prone to falling off, but bar this issue as you would expect with playmobil all the pieces are well built and with articulated limbs as well as hands that actually turn. After two years of play they are as good as new, I wash them from time to time, there are no stickers or anything to be damaged, everything is well printed and well put together. One major plus of this set is that there is absolutely no assembly required, it's a get out of the box and play item.
I like the fact that the elephants can grip onto the accessories provided - a horn and little umbrella - and indeed any other small playmobil you might have. The two figures will fit onto the elephants' back and are of child size, as opposed to adult sized playmobil figures. The girl has a detachable skirt for some inexplicable reason, in two pieces, which is a bit strange but doesn't seem to worry my daughters over much, though when they were younger they had problems re-attaching it, though they were able to make the girl balance as in the picture with no problems right from the time they started playing with these items. My daughters make great use of the circus set that came with the elephants (as pictured, one smaller podium and one rolling barrel) when they play with the tent, using it for the clowns or acrobats rather than for the elephants. The elephants themselves seem to enjoy frequent trips to the vet or take part in parades in this house rather than having to perform in the Circus itself.
All in all this set is a good addition to the circus scene, and there's enough here to mean that this would be quite a good play alone item. Recommended.
Summary: Not a bad little set
