Playmobil is a high profiled toy make for children aged four years to ten years old. Their toys are fantastic detailed toys that are sure to get the imaginations of your children going. Over the last year and a half we have bought several Playmobil sets in different sizes for my eldest son who is five and half. My youngest son who is four has in the last six months become more interested in Playmobil and as he has a great love for animals we couldn't help but buy him this particular set when we saw it. The Playmobil 5970, the Animal Clinic carrying case was the first carrying case option we had come across with Playmobil and I have to say is a good range from Playmobil.
This particular carry case is basically what it says on the box, a carry case containing a small vet clinic set. The carry case is a very well made light green plastic brief case style case with two small clips to open the case up. The clips on the case are a little stiff to begin with but both my boys have been able to manage them alone. The carry case measure roughly 25cms by 20cms and 5cms in depth with an integrated handle to carry it.
All the pieces that come with this set are contained in the carry case. There are plenty of pieces to this small set many of them are very small in size and have some wonderful tiny detail. The set comes with one person a lady vet who you can tell very easily she is a vet with her white medical coat on and her stethoscope which is cleverly held in place with her hair so can be removed if your child wishes. Like all Playmobil adult people her arms and hands move and she bends at the waist so she can sit down. As well as the vet there is a good size operating table measuring 10cms in length, a working parts equipment trolley, a crate, a basket, a dog, a cat two guinea pigs and lots of accessories.
The equipment trolley does require minimal assembling with wheels to be attached to the bottom and the sliding out swivel trays to be clipped in place. The trolley is blue and light green the same green as the carry case. As is the operating table so it all matches together nicely. The trolley like all the bits in this set is quite small but is great fun with two swivel out shelves to house medical equipment and bandages, a top tray to hold medicine pots and bottles and wheels to underneath to move it about. The only other bits that require a tiny bit of assembling is the operating table that needs its legs attaching and the lids need to be put on the medicine pots. For Playmobil this is very simple assembling that will only take seconds! Something of a miracle with Playmobil!
The four animals included in this set are all to be treated! There is a cute black and white cat that's head can move up and down. The black and white dog is the same with its head being able to move up and down too. There are two types of guinea pig one which is laid normally and the other that is sat up on its two back legs. On these two there are no features that move.
The set doesn't lack in accessories either with plenty to get the clinic up and running. There is a feeding bottle, medicine tubs, plenty of bandages white and peach, a food bowl, medical equipment like scissors, tweezers, injection and knife, a yellow bottle of potion and a small rectangle of stickers that have plasters on to use. There is also a small blue box there is required for you to put a weighing scales sticker on it. And that is the set complete.
In terms of putting this up against other Playmobil sets this one is on the small side but you would expect that for the price you pay. I feel you get plenty for your money here and it is a great starter set to see if this particular topic interests your child. My youngest son was frilled by this set even more so for the reason it came with its own carry case so he could easily take it on the move. He does struggle with his concentration but this set has really helped him with that. He loves making his animals better and getting the vet to look over them. The range of bits in this set is great and there is a bit of everything allowing plenty of play opportunities my son has yet to get bored of it. Even though it is a small set he hasn't felt the need to add it to any more sets as it has plenty of play value on its own. His enjoyment of the vet set has made me think of getting him a large vets set for Christmas not because this is lacking in any way but I think he would get even more enjoyment out of it.
My eldest son has also played with this set and really enjoyed it too. It is lovely to watch the two boys play with it separately and see how their age makes a difference to how they interact with it. This set is really for one child as it only comes with one person and a few animals I don't feel it is big enough for them to share without a few squabbles! My eldest son does appreciate the detail of the set a lot more than my youngest son but they both get a lot out of it.
As it is our first carry case set I have to say I am very impressed with the content and the case itself. The case is really well made and will definitely last well. Playmobil sets have always come with the problem of how to store them but this has been taken away from this set. The fact it comes with its own storage means it is great to take on your travels and something we have done on numerous occasions. As always Playmobil delivers on a high quality product yet again and I can see it lasting for years to come yet.
Playmobil is available in many leading toy stores on the high street like The Entertainer, Tesco's, Argos, Toys R Us etc. I bought this particular carry case online from Amazon. It is available around the £10 mark and is currently sold in House of Frasier for £9.99. It is also available directly from the Playmobil website for £9.99. Both my boys love this set and I am very impressed with it too. I feel it is excellent value for money, a great buy.
