Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2)
by Marie234
Your probably wondering why I'm writing a review on GTA San Andreas because I'm a women. Well my son is a massive fan of GTA games and I've played on them a few times with him aswell!
Actually, when you start to play GTA it gets quite addictive at times and you don't want to stop playing, well fortunately my son's not like than and ... I'm not like that either but GTA especially San Andreas is great.
Your in control of a gangster and criminal called CJ also known as Carl Johnson who lives in Los Santos. His mother was murdered by ? and CJ went away for a while but then he comes back and the story begins!
At the start of the story, CJ is making his return to Los Santos where his family lives. But he soon comes into conflict with a bunch of corrupt neighborhood cops who frame him for homicide. Carl's family and friends are falling apart. His mission to keep his family friends together and to take full control of the streets takes him across the whole state of San Andreas! Throughout the game, you will be able to kill other gang members, takeover different hoods (gang territories), get a girlfriend and take her to different places you get to drive like an endless maniac on the road and you could go on a killing spree!
GTA San Andreas was designed, created and produced by Rockstar Games and Rockstar North.
The only problems with GTA San Andreas is that the graphics can be very poor which actually spoil the game. But I personally think that because of the way the characters, scenes, cars and surroundings are drawn stand out!
Another problem would be that it can be quite violent in some ways and it can also be addictive and influencing towards young children because of it can contain drug use, sexual scenes, dangerous weapons and lots of other influential things!
Otherwise, it's a brilliant game and definitely worth getting if you can obtain it!
Where can I purchase this game from?
You can purchase this amazing game from off the internet on Amazon and Ebay also for great prices!
This game is definitely worth purchasing and playing because it takes you into a new world of gangsters and crime but in a game version instead of real life! Read the complete review |

The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe (PS2)
by cath_del
I bought The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe when myself and a friend were looking for PS2 multiplayer games to play after completing Shrek 2. I wasn't really sure about the game itself, as I don't really tend to think that games based on movies are very good, but it was better than I expected (apart from some ... levels that were just downright annoying).
The game is a PG (which I've never seen on a game before) which is pretty decent as I suppose it does contain some violence like killing the White Witches soldiers and elements of fear that little children may find scary but as long as they liked the film, they'll find the game the same. I bought it on the chance it just happened to be in the preowned section of GAME in a 3 for 2 deal, however it can be bought for around £7 on Amazon, which is a pretty reasonable price.
The storyline is loosely based around the film that was released, except the levels do stray slightly from it (always a plus though as ones that stick to the film always tend to end up being awful). There are regular cut scenes from the movie for the fans of it, and they do make a nice break from gameplay. Many will know the story of the film, so a short summary is, 4 children go through a wardrobe and find the magical world of Narnia where a talking lion named Aslan is currently fighting against the White Witch. Aslan then enlists the help of these children to help him take back Narnia.
The gameplay is decent, with 15 levels to keep you entertained as you get to use the different siblings throughout, so it never becomes repetitive. Most of the game is a platformer, as you run around killing enemies, solving puzzles and collecting items. It can get quite annoying at times though as it is sometimes difficult to work out what they want you to do or the controls for little minigames are so hard to understand it makes it impossible to pass the level without trying several times.
You have the ability to play as the four siblings - Peter, Edmund, Lucy and Susan - who each have abilities that the others won't e.g. Lucy can climb through small spaces, Edmund can climb trees Susan can throw snowballs and Peter can break through things. This means that in the game it does require some tactical thinking as you do have to work out puzzles on how to get to the next part.
The boss fights are probably the most challenging parts of the game, as they are what I found myself getting stuck on the most with as sometimes the controls can be a bit difficult and it seems like it will be impossible to beat them.
I prefer playing multiplayer in the game, as it does make working things out and controlling the characters a lot easier. You can play with up to two people in the group and can switch characters at any time pretty easily and use the drop out feature that's used in games like the Lego series. It's definitely a game that a family would be able to play easily together.
The graphics are quite good for a PS2 game or a movie adaptation, as they always seem to be quickly done and rushed, however as they strayed from the film in parts, I suppose they had to create their own slightly unique environments. Everything is pretty detailed, with the environments looking well designed and both the characters looking very similar and animated as they do within the movie. The music fits in well with the scenes, and I didn't find it to get annoying or repetitive and it did fit quite well with the gameplay.
Overall, I found the game to be enjoyable despite the fact that at times it did get frustrating to work out puzzles and how to finish the boss fight without dying 30 times in a row. It's a fun and well developed game that I think people would like either playing alone or with friends and family. For once this is not a game adaptation from a movie, that is poor. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2)
by RedFlag
I remember when GTA-San Andreas was announced, having mixed emotions of anticipation yet a sinking feeling of fear that it would be a disappointment, just as I felt GTA- Vice City had been. However, those of you who have played this game, will know that, if you agree with me that is, I had no need to feel disappointed as this game was ... and still is in my opinion, 100% amazing and brilliant. I think that I would go as far as saying that this edition has to be included in the all time top 5 games for the Playstation platform, it doesnt matter how many times I play, I dont seem to become bored at all, which compared to Vice City again, it an improvement. It has everything the others have and much much more.
When added together, it took me hours and hours of gameplay to complete it, and not just because the game is so huge, much bigger than GTA 3 or Vice City (in fact possibly both of them together), but because the missions are just that little harder, making it more interesting. I just to hate when I had to do a mission on the other games, and I found that I could do it with my eyes shut. With San Andreas, I found myself, not being able to do them in one go, but in fact having to have numerous attempts, and although frustrating at times, kept me playing hour after hour.
Graphically, simply amazing. One feature to demonstrate this, is the addition of being able to gain a pilots license (or not if you use cheats), and flying a plane, not just a little plane but later in the game, a jumbo jet. The views from the cockpit are amazing of this fictional city, you have to play for you to understand what I am talking about. Also, in addition to having to go through the ranks of the criminal world, youalso have to go through and build up your characters own personal attributes and abilities, for example, strengh, weight and charisma. The story in the game is much more in depth than others, just like a movie, with you driving the plot.
San Andreas is a game that will go down in history as setting the bench mark for being a truly amazing game, and although that benchmark has been raised with the release of game like Call of Duty, it will definitely be one of my all time favourite computer games. Thanks for reading. Read the complete review |
