State Of Emergency (PS2):
... the massive success of Grand Theft Auto 3, it was hoped that State of Emergency might follow suit and be a stunningly crafted game with a great story and addictive gameplay. Sadly, it s none of these things, but it s an alright shoot em up if you re bored, even if it s got not even superficial depth and is in fact a little bland. It s a very strange game indeed, involving you attempting to overthrow an Orw... Read the full review: So shallow by shaneo632 |

Zone of the Enders (PS2) ... Konami, and not only that, but the mind of Metal Gear Solid developer Hideo Kojima, there was a lot of hype surrounding Zone of the Enders, and although it may not give the MGS series a run for its money, it s still a superbly crafted game with more than its fair share of influence coming from Anime and bi-pedal cartoons in general. Also, it originally came with a demo for Metal Gear Solid 2, which was a big selling point of the game, with people I know even shelling out £40 just to get a glimpse of MGS2! You play as a young kid who is given the best gift ever - a huge bi-pedal robot, which you then get inside and take to various locations with the hope of finding a... Shadow Of Memories (PS2) ... make some of the best and most original games on the market. Shadow of Memories, whilst not among the most popular games ever made, is a thrillingly inventive RPG-esque murder mystery, where there s no combat or "boss fights" to speak of, but the game still offers a high degree of difficulty due to some meticulously designed gameplay, in which you must attempt to solve puzzles in order to save the protagonist s life. You play Eike, a man who was recently murdered, and given a second chance to find your killer, you must continually travel back in time and amass clues as to who did you in. Like Konami s Metal Gear Solid series, this is a very cinematic gam... Read the full review: Brave and original murder mystery by shaneo632 |

Still, it s entertaining and certainly quite challenging, so overall I would praise it. Visually, it s a very impressive title that has excellent fluidity in terms of animation, and the fighting in particular looks very realistic, and something out of a martial arts film that its star Takeshi Kaneshiro (who lends his likeness for the protagonist Samonosuke, and will star as him in the long-awaited film adaptation) would partake in. The enemies you fight are also appropriately grotesque, and the blood splattin... Read the full review: Solid action adventure by shaneo632 |
